The theme this month was Back to the Future: Stuff that used to be considered the cutting edge of technology - things, places, etc which at one time were the awesome newest tech on earth and now are abandoned to the past.
These are the finalists based on the results of the two preliminary polls.

An entrant to this contest, by submitting a photograph, is giving permission for that photograph to be copied to Demopedia or to a linked Gallery and included in a DU Calendar that will display the photographs entered for this contest for the purpose of publicizing future contests and/or commemorating current and past contests. (8,554 posts)it's the site of the old powerhouse which generated the very first long-distance transmission of electricity in the US, about 10 miles to Portland, back in the late 1800s.
I'm not certain that's where this is, but it sure looks like it.
