People are complicated

My Trump-supporting cousin just posted this comment on FB:

Evelyn asked a question tonight as we are watching first time flipper which these kids love the diy or hgtv network, but on the episode we are watching the guys doing the flip are gay, and Evelyn turns around and asked me those guys live together? I think I handled it pretty well when I said yep sometimes 2 boys or 2 girls are in a relationship or get married and live together. You know just doing my part to end the hate for the next generation. ‪#?LoveEveryone‬ ‪#?Equality‬

Evelyn is his daughter. I was very surprised by this given his very vocal support for Trump.

My cousin Cody is overall a pretty nice, decent, guy, and I think his support for Trump comes more from anti-Establishment anger than anything else. I tried to get him to support Sanders but he fell for all the anti-Sanders red-baiting and Clintonian propaganda about "free stuff".

are with him only because he is perceived as anti-establishment. Not all of his supporters are the racist homophobes that are the stereotypical Trump voters. If Bernie was the nominee I think he would get a fair share of the anti-establishment voters who really aren't comfortable with all of Trump's views. He would certainly not get any of the racist homophobes though. Thank goodness for that. Trump can keep those voters.

...many of which we might disagree with on other things, but some of the largest corporations recognized domestic partnerships, long before marriage equality was even on the table.
