Crosscheck is risky, racist and unreliable

States across the country are leaving the Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck program, started by Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who was also notably on Trump’s voter suppression committee. Kobach claims the program is supposed to prevent voter fraud by identifying people registered in multiple states. But that claim is far from the truth, which is that Crosscheck’s methods are severely flawed, leading millions of voters to be mistakenly flagged and purged from voter rolls. Black and Hispanic voters have been disproportionately disenfranchised because of this program.
It’s also a security risk. This program exposed nearly 1,000 Kansans’ partial Social Security numbers. Improperly handling sensitive voter data puts us all at risk. This is part of the reason why so many states have migrated to a different system which is secure and well-designed.
Tell the secretaries of states that are participating in Crosscheck to leave the program now!
Urge your state (if it hasn’t already) and others to pull out of the unreliable and racist Crosscheck program.
