Candidate Profiles: Anton Keller and Larry Terch III run for Mayor of North Pole
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Anton Keller and Larry Terch III are running to serve as Mayor of the City of North Pole.
Keller says he is running to make sure North Pole goes in the direction it needs to, and to help it heal. Ive been on city council for the last three years, and seeing how the citys going, the progress were making, but also some of the downfalls that weve seen over the last couple of years has been really hindering the relationship that the city has with the people around and in the city.
He says he is not pushing a particular agenda. I want to bring people together. I want to bring in the big stakeholders within the city and really gain a community outlook on what the city wants and needs, be it development, thats something that Ive been hearing a lot about, is trying to get more development within the city, make North Pole a place that people want to come and live and stay.
Keller sees the job of a mayor as taking different ideas and determining the right answers. You counsel with other people about the concerns of the city, the concerns of the area, the community, because the city services a lot of people and a lot of businesses around the City of North Pole. The City of North Pole is relatively small compared to what people think it is just because of the zip code and the name, right? So, I want to get the big stakeholders together and what I want to do is have that voice of reason within the small business community, but also within the community.
