(353 posts)that if a visitor to the State stays through one whole winter, he or she will have to return again another time. Around Fairbanks, and perhaps other parts of Alaska, the rich soil and short growing season produces the largest and most beautiful flowers and vegetables that I've ever seen.
The locals refer to folks that live in the lower 48 as "outsiders". And the population is so sparse! I suspect that the population of Dallas, TX, or any other major city in the Country has a greater population than the entire state of Alaska ~ despite it being about 1/5 as large as the rest of the continental United States.
