The job of the Malicious Intruder Removal Team is to ban people who join DU with the intent to disrupt. MIR Team members are volunteers, they serve for a three-month term, and they must take a break after serving two consecutive terms.

If you are a member of the MIR Team, you should now have access to the access-restricted Malicious Intruder Removal Forum. It should appear as a red folder in your sidebar navigation, on the Forums page in the Special Forums section, and also on the Help & Search category page.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered! Volunteers were selected on a first-come-first-served basis.

i know almost every name on this list from my stint a few yrs ago. a few i was a mod w back in the day. most served FOR YEARS.
it’s not onerous. no 1 expects u to give it hours a day if u dont have it. there r few of the deep, sometimes bitter philosophical discussions that used to happen in the hot tub. you’re not judging other long time members. just noobs w less than 100 posts. being that trolls tend to b pretty stupid, it’s not usually hard to pick them off.
you’ll get to know some of the best ppl here. the backbone of this joint. IT’S FUN.
i consider all the folks i served in the hot tub good friends. even met a couple in meatspace. they’re the best of this place.

if i ran this place, i’d b sending dm’s to ppl who’ve been here a long time to harangue them about civic duty. 😜
i will confine myself to replies in threads like this. making a mental note to jump on the recruiting threads in future.

but c’mon. give back. this term will b busy, next term will b worse. it’s important to keep that bullshit away.
