Downtime for Democratic Underground on Monday, February 26th

We are expecting to have some downtime tomorrow, Monday, February 26th around 3pm ET while some upgrades are performed on our servers.

We do not expect the downtime to last more than an hour, but unexpected things can happen.

Then I'll be having cataract surgery and won't miss y'all.

(For all you young whippersnappers out there, believe it or not, cataract surgery is now done on an out-patient basis. Arrive at 11:00 am and expect to leave between 2:30-3:00 pm, seeing better than you have in many years.)

(Just joking about moving the downtime, of course. Thanks for the heads up.)

I envy you. My cataracts are not yet bad enough for Medicare to cover them. Soon. I hope soon!

and they never asked 'how bad'. The opthamologist said 'now' and we scheduled it.

The eye doc is the one saying my cataracts aren't ripe yet. Second opinion and Medicare goes along with that.

52. Then it is a real bummer.

Although I had my left eye done about 8 years ago and at the time they told me I had a cataract growing in my right eye that I would have to have done 'eventually'. Then I went to the eye doc a couple of weeks ago and he told me that 'eventually is here'.

So, tomorrow off to 'ambulatory surgery'. Total of about 4 hours for the pre- the op and the post- then go home.

48. i had both eyes done about 5 weeks apart when i was 62!.One eye was done and...

... I could see what WHITE really looked like. TV was SO SHARP i scheduled the second one to be done asap. The eye drop issue was cake. One thing I didnt know what the second time they give you the 'really good drugs' they arent so ' really good the second time'. They arent as effective and i felt something like sandpaper touching my eye and my nose kept itching...but no discomfort at all. Even tho I had the lenses corrected for far vision i think I would have preferred to have had them corrected for reading instead.

We all probably need to give our eyes and brain a rest from the stuff we’re trying to keep up with these days. Spend some time in fresh air—63 degrees in my neck of the woods.
