I wonder what actually happened. Considering where he lived, the color of his skin & the super toxic political environment in the country, was he "ASSISTED" to the other side? It's NOT a conspiracy theory considering what has been happening, after the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, ad nauseam .
In any case, condolences to his friends, family & loved ones.

who yearn to be free, to be healthy, NOT to starve, to have a roof over their heads, dream of being safe from being bombed, raped, turned out into the street, murdered by the very people who swore to protect them, let's link arms, grasp hands & walk forward TOGETHER to save this country & all the places where even ONE HUMAN BEING lives in fear, hunger or insecurity of any kind to the world that we know it is supposed to be.
The strongest power on can ever have & use is is the one where you turn your enemies weapons against them or my mom used to always say, "Learn how to play their game better than they do".
We CAN & WILL win!!

This is sad either way and we've lost another effective young person who was capable of helping to accomplish great good for the rest of us.

happening, constant threats against BLACK FOLKS, including ME, as a black woman I KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT'S HAPPENING. My brother who's was an Army recruiter & was stationed in Sierra Vista, AZ, was LITERALLY pulled over EVERY FUCKING SINGLE MORNING on his way to work @ the base & every evening ONE HIS WAY HOME!
The LOCAL IMMIGRATION & POLICE were threatened by the commander with REALLY bad outcomes if they did it ONE MORE TIME, ffs & another one of my brothers was pulled out of his OWN CAR, parked IN FRONT OF HIS OWN HOME by police who tried to claimed that he had ridden Sacramento light rail without paying, (he'd driven to school, work & then home).
My "father" was arrested because he supposedly fit the description of a robbery suspect. He'd been on his way to pick up my Grandmother from LAX. Guess what? My father is a fairly dark skinned, 6'5.5" in height & was lanky at the time. The suspect? Yeah, well, he was about 5'10", at most, stocky, BALD & YELLOW AF! Not only that. The robbery suspect was driving a stolen blue early 70's Mustang & my father was driving a light green Ambassador Station wagon. So, there's that...
When he asked what was happening & why, they told him that he "fit the physical description of someone who had been reported as stealing a ride, (EVEN THOUGH HE WAS DRIVING & HAD BEEN NOWHERE NEAR A LIGHTRAIL STATION). they literally THREW HIM TO THE GROUND & placed their knees in his back!
So, excuse me if I see nefarious potentiality in this situation. It may very well be that he took his own life but from my own personal experience, this needs to be REALLY looked at...PERIOD!

(1,753 posts)around the corner. We have pretty much been put in this position. Having said that, I think it's best to stay above the fray and try to keep this thinking within the DU community ... this a a place where we can all share our opinions, fears and feelings; that's what I love about DU!

(889 posts)& country. I just saw that & the first thing that came to mind is that I hope that they REALLY investigate this because this is just a little too coincidental AND suspish. If you could see the comments on one other sites reporting the death, I believe it was WJZ CBSLOCAL Baltimore, it would literally make you heave. Some of them actually said things like, "the only good democrat is a dead one".
This sh*t is wild & NEEDS TO STOP!!

God bless, stay safe & let's march forward to getting rid of the steaming pile of crap ALL OF IT, out of our house, the senate, & anywhere else it's smeared.

(668 posts)He probably has a better chance of having a non-racist-influenced investigation of his death than most African-Americans. Prince George's County, where is lived, was 70 percent African-American the last time I checked, and the most affluent majority African-American county in the country. (There are a lot of well-paying government jobs in D.C. and the adjoining counties.) Southeast D.C. is even more predominantly African-American, although I'm not at all certain about the competence of the D.C. police. After all these decades out West, I try to keep up on the old stomping grounds of my youth in southeast D.C. and PG County, but it's not always easy.

(16,631 posts)As a single mother in her 20's, I was harassed by the local small town police (I guess they thought I needed something they were offering, ugh). They did things like follow me home, knock on my door at midnight. It's scary as hell when it's the cops. I was lucky, I was able to stop it. So, yeah, I agree.

(668 posts)his death might not have been at his own hand, either. I lived in SE D.C. from 1957-1968, during which time my neighborhood turned from all-white to nearly all black. In 1968, when we moved out to Prince George's County, I was the last white kid in the neighborhood. I check in on the old neighborhood occasionally (virtually, not actually) and the last time I Googled my old street address, earlier this summer, I discovered a picture of the old house with a boarded up front door and an official-looking keep out warning sign. The house itself is not rundown, but the neighborhood is a mess. I've found record of two murders on the block I lived on in the last few years, and it had to be black-on-black crime. SE D.C. has been a sad mess for decades now, especially Ward 8 where my old house is. This IS sad, and I hope we have a better understanding of his demise soon.

(889 posts)young democratic leader. If you don't mind my asking, do you know if he had issues with depression? & whether he did or not, do you know if he was threatened? I ask this because when I was reading the comments at first place I ran across this horrible news, it was HORRIFIC!!
I didn't know the young brother but in light of the FLAT OUT MURDERS of people of color by police, I just think that this needs to be completely investigated by folks who can be trusted to be objective & fully professional in their look see.

(19,339 posts)that depression is running rampant in our country right now. Depression because of the personal isolation from the corona virus, depression from the way our country is being dismantled by the toxic moron in the White House, depression because of the unbearable racism that's being heaped upon our minority citizens. Depression. Every one of those causations is attributable to Donald J. Trump.
If someone is susceptible to just one of those catalysts, depression can be overwhelming. If someone is susceptible to two or more of those catalysts, the depression would become unbearable. It's a fact that suicides are on the rise in our country, and those deaths are not being associated with the corona virus. They should be. They should be laid at the feet of Donald Trump. Not that he cares, but when history is written these poor souls should not be forgotten. They all died because of Donald J. Trump.
