Donald Trump Issues Warning After Stock Halted
Source: Newsweek
Former President Donald Trump said he may consider moving his media company's stock listing after it was briefly halted on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
In a post to Truth Social on Friday, the former president complained about shares of Trump Media & Technology Group, which uses the ticker DJT, being halted by Nasdaq, writing that it had occurred twice during the day.
"Why is NASDAQ halting the sale of DJT? What right do they have to do this?" read Trump's post, in part.

"An exchange, broker, or the SEC can implement a stock halt. Trading halts can stem from multiple causes. Volatility and pending news are two of the most common reasons. Other causes include failure to document filings with the SEC, suspected fraud or market manipulation, and lack of funds to pay the clearinghouse."

(4,605 posts)The SEC will go after him for illegally manipulating the price of his stock. Trump is so dumb he has no idea what hes messing with when it comes to publicly traded companies. There are strict limits and requirements on things major shareholders can and also must say about their intentions to prevent them from influencing the value of their shares.
Stuff like this is why no publicly traded company would ever hire him as an executive.

Everyone else will be left holding the bag when the stock price goes down to ZERO.

According to link:
"Why is NASDAQ halting the sale of DJT? What right do they have to do this?" read Trump's post, in part.
Earlier in the day, Trump said that he will not sell his shares of DJT despite the stock value dropping after his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday. The share price plummeted to its lowest level last week since going public in March, and had faced a steady decline for weeks.
"No, I'm not selling," Trump said while talking to reporters in California. "I'm not leaving. I love it. I think it's great."
Reuters reported that shares of DJT were halted by the Nasdaq for two five-minute periods after Trump's comments, which is common practice during times of "volatility." After Trump's statements, the company's stock price surged as much as 30 percent and closed out Friday with a 12 percent gain on the day, at $17.97 per share.

(141,427 posts)CNN and CNBC sent out breaking banners about this stock and how it was "exploding" or "popping" after he apparently claimed he "wasn't going to sell".
So obviously that triggered something that was trying to get it off its $15/share price.

(16,181 posts)And since he got 60% of the shares for essentially nothing it is all found money, whatever the stock price. But higher is better, so of course he wants to be able to pump and dump. Halts on trading due to high volatility gets in his way.

(5,534 posts)going to be too harmed by losing the listing of a company bleeding money with little revenue. But also to show how little is rational about the market anymore there is the spectacle of people putting buying pressure on a company that for it's revenue is solely dependent on a convicted felon facing jail time. Let alone that the total revenue is miniscule compared to cost of operation. So people rush forward clamoring to see who can catch the hot falling knife. The whole thing looked like a way for people to launder money to him by way of an eventual stock sale. Someone might want to look at whether this is part of the pay-off for documents.

That stock will be worth pennies in a little over a week. Chump will have squeezed everything out of his shares before anyone else finds out about it. He's probably made private deals already that won't be announced until the official sell date. He's a huckster, and that's what they do.

(3,056 posts)The problem with that is that, now, if Trump does sell, he could be in violation of Federal securities fraud laws governing stock manipulation and subject to up to 20 years in prison. It is illegal for company principals and major shareholders to mislead investors as to their future positions in a stock.
