Trump was the subject of an apparent assassination attempt at his Florida golf club, the FBI says
Source: AP
The man who authorities say pointed a rifle with a scope into former President Donald Trumps golf club and was arrested is Ryan Wesley Routh, three law enforcement officials told The Associated Press.
The officials identified the suspect to the AP but spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.
Secret Service agents shot at the suspect, who was taken into custody after fleeing the scene of what the FBI is calling an apparent attempted assassination of the Republican presidential nominee. Authorities are working to determine a motive.

The Secret Service spotted a gun pointing out of a bush at the hole ahead of where Trump was playing. If the gun had not been spotted, the suspect would have had a clear shot from 100 yards, per ABC right now.

(17,324 posts)It very obvious from my post I don't like that fbi agents are disobeying orders not to speak to the press.
Why are you lying about what I wrote?

(834 posts)If Trump isn't behind this one. As long as they keep missing, it's good for fundraising and for changing the subject.

(17,324 posts)....like PTSD is probably best tackled through research of real life situations, you know, reality. Movies are created for entertainment, they are not reality.
It's like when people watch foxnews for information, or read Playboy for the articles.

(1,136 posts)Since this suspect is apparently left-leaning (that's how they're spinning it), it's going to be the headlines for days. No more talk about Vance and the pet eating immigrants, or how the people of Springfield have been terrorized. Our Dear Leader was almost killed. AGAIN!
Some SS agent magically saw a rifle barrel in some bushed 100 or more yards from where Trump was diddling around with his clubs. Considering the first time those guys couldn't find a dude they'd been told about, and who was lying on a roof top in plain sight, I find that highly suspicious.
And somehow witnesses saw the dude fleeing (because the SS missed when they shot at him), got not only his vehicle description but took a picture of the license plate. Come on, now.
How long before the acting SS director is out, and someone else has to deal with this idiocy? How long before Harris is blamed for it? 5... 4... 3... 2...

(41 posts)At first glance it appears the shooter, Ryan Routh, is a left-wing loony. This is based solely on his social media posts.
The first would-be assassin was a right-wing loony.
Conclusion: we on the left have our own deranged people with guns; perhaps fewer of them, but we have them. We do ourselves harm by developing conspiracy theories, or ignoring this fact.
The common denominator is obviously not the personal politics of these would-be assassins. The common denominator is that they are all persons with mental health issues who have access to firearms.
