Robinson won't appear at Trump's North Carolina rally after report on online posts, AP sources say

Source: AP

Updated 6:10 PM EDT, September 20, 2024

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson will not appear at former President Donald Trump ’s rally on Saturday in the battleground state following a CNN report about Robinson’s alleged disturbing online posts, an absence that illustrates the liability the gubernatorial candidate poses for Trump and downballot GOP candidates.

Robinson is not expected to attend the event in Wilmington, according to a person on the Trump campaign and a second person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal planning.

Robinson has been a frequent presence at Trump’s North Carolina campaign stops. The Republican nominee has referred to Robinson, who is Black, as “Martin Luther King on steroids” and long praised him. But in the wake of Thursday’s CNN report, the Trump campaign issued a statement that didn’t mention Robinson and instead spoke generally about how North Carolina was key to the campaign’s efforts.

Robinson’s campaign didn’t respond to a text Friday seeking confirmation on his Saturday plans. The deadline in state law for Robinson to withdraw as the Republican candidate for governor passed late Thursday. State Republican leaders could have picked a replacement had a withdrawal occurred.

No wonder the North Carolina Black folks hate him!

Whites should hate him too, but for other reasons.

trDUMP would welcome Robinson up on the stage during the the rally. He could pace up and down the length of the stage giving - click heels - Nazi salutes to the audience during the whole rally.

but the Robinson porno posts certainly weren't on my Bingo card! This is beyond my wildest imagination, or anyone else's...

I watched a video which went into more detail than CNN did, about what was in Robinson's posts, and it was pretty horrific--- way too detailed posts about him having a sex affair with his sister-in-law, and things having to do with urine and her backside--- that's as far as I'll go.... If you thought the quotes from CNN were bad, they were nothing compared to the sexually-explicit posts.

IMHO, some of that info ought to be forwarded to any right-wing preachers who are backing Robinson-- they ought not to be left in the dark about the kind of person they are supporting.

you have to remember that Robinson WAS elected Lt. Governor, so the sleepy voters in NC who didn't bother to come out to vote in that race, allowed for that to happen - even with the effort to keep Cooper in there. I guess maybe it was intended to be some sort of "balance".

Well let's hope some learned their lesson.

Here in PA, the Lt. Governor runs separately from the Governor in the primary but then they become running mates in the general election.

and his vile comments have been pretty much a big news focus on most of them.

I think its mainly because he is a freak and that helps them get the clicks and eyeballs. I would put it on a similar level to how they covered Herschel Walker when he was running for Senate in GA except Robinson is like Walker on steroids!
