At least four killed, multiple injured in late night shooting in Alabama

Birmingham, Alabama: Four people have died and more than 20 wounded following a shooting in a nightlife area in Birmingham, Alabama, according to police.

Just after 11 pm (2pm AEST), “multiple shooters fired multiple shots on a group of people” in the Five Points South area, Birmingham Police Officer Truman Fitzgerald said.

Police investigators said officers arrived at the scene and discovered two men and a woman dead at the scene. A fourth victim died at a hospital, WBMA-TV reported.

Other victims were transported to hospitals in private vehicles, police told WBMA. A spokeswoman for the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital said it was treating 11 victims. Their conditions have not been released.
