4 senior campaign officials for Mark Robinson step down in wake of CNN report
Source: CNN
Four top operatives on Mark Robinsons campaign for North Carolina governor have stepped down, the campaign announced on Sunday.
General consultant and senior advisor Conrad Pogorzelski III, campaign manager Chris Rodriguez, finance director Heather Whillier and deputy campaign manager Jason Rizk have stepped down from the campaign.
The announcement from Robinsons campaign comes in the aftermath of a CNN report uncovering inflammatory comments the lieutenant governor and Republican nominee for governor made on a pornography website message board over a decade ago. The lewd comments included Robinson describing himself as a black Nazi and how he used to go peeping on women at a public gym when he was 14 years old.
Robinson has a long history of making inflammatory statements but the newly unearthed message board posts go a step beyond.
Since the CNN report, some North Carolina Republicans have moved to pressure Robinson to drop out though the state deadline for him to officially withdraw as a candidate has passed. Vice President Kamala Harris presidential campaign has also looked to leverage Robinsons association with former President Donald Trump in a new ad.

And the thing is, once you've read that creepy, gross description of what he did, or more likely what he wanted to do, you really can't think of anything else whenever his name comes up. So do you want to think about that whenever the governor of your state is in the news, and that behavior in association with him? If you worked for him or had any contact with him would you wonder if he was thinking about doing whatever that was to you? And of course there's the Black Nazi thing and the fact that he's into trans porn while objecting to rights for trans people. He's about as nasty a character as I've ever heard of in politics. The GOP sure knows how to attract all the best people....

(6,114 posts)towards many, this is the type of person you get.
Heard a commentator on one of the MSNBC shows say that recently--it was a great take--basically that when the qualifications for being a republican candidate are kissing up to trump and displaying hatred towards many groups of people, this is the type of person the party ends up with. Not thoughtful public servants who want to improve the country, but instead loony, hateful garbage candidates--because those are the types of people fulfill the "requirements."
I can't remember the name of the guest to give credit, but their comments made a lot of sense.

................Zoom in: Pogorzelski said in a text message Axios: "The reports are true that I, along with others from the campaign have left of our own accord."
He said in addition to those announced that deputy campaign manager- Jason Rizk, political director John Kontoulas, political director Jackson Lohrer and director of operations Patrick Riley had also resigned.

(12,909 posts)You know the guy can be bought if the price is right. I would not be surprised to see him conveniently withdraw in the coming week.
Only problem for the NC GQP is his name on the ballots. I do hope its really too late, but Im sure there are discussions going on even at this point.

Makes sense.
If he, or someone else, were to die tomorrow, even though they couldn't get his name off the ballot, his replacement should get the vote

He can quit campaigning, but he is the candidate. All bets are off of course if he dies.

(12,909 posts)Whether he can be convinced to drop out remains to be seen, but its not impossible.
At any rate, our chances in NC have taken a turn for the better, thats for sure!
