North Carolina Democratic gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein said that Mark Robinson, the states Republican gubernatorial candidate, could not exist without former President Donald Trump. Look, Robinson exists because Donald Trump has lifted him up throughout, Stein, the states current attorney general, said on Sunday in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNNs State of the Union. Mark Robinson could not exist without the support of Donald Trump.
Steins comments come after a recent report from CNN about Robinson leaving disturbing comments on a porn website. Trump held a rally in North Carolina yesterday without any mention of Robinson, who Trump previously endorsed and embraced. Robinson has denied making the comments from the CNN report. Robinsons email was also found registered on Ashley Madison, a website for married people seeking affairs, which his team has claimed was part of a data breach.
But in his interview with CNN, Stein said he didnt believe Robinsons denial because the recent developments are in line with Robinsons past comments. Before the CNN report, Robinson had previously faced scrutiny for comments on women, LGBTQ+, Jewish and Muslim people, among other comments. Stein noted that the recently discovered comments are similar to what he previously posted on Facebook.
Mark Robinson is absolutely unfit to be the governor of North Carolina. And that was true before your story broke last Thursday, Stein said. The story has only served to underline and put an exclamation point on that fact.
