DUBAI, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been transferred to a secure location inside the country with heightened security measures in place, two regional officials briefed by Tehran told Reuters.
The sources said Iran was in constant contact with Lebanon's Hezbollah and other regional proxy groups to determine the next step after Israel announced that it had killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in a strike on south Beirut on Friday.

(16,330 posts)This might be this election's October surprise.
1. Middle East war Israel vs. Iran/Syria
2. Biden admin forced to declare full support of Israel
3. Pro Palestinian/anti-Israel supporters protest violently(?)
4. Biden admin either responds forcefully or mildly
5. Pro Palestinian voters sit out/vote against Harris in battleground states (Michigan, others) in protest
6. Harris loses enough votes at the margins to lose battleground states
Another October surprise might be seriously aggressive moves by Putin in Ukraine. Either or both scenarios would put enormous pressure on the Biden administration to respond, upsetting many voters no matter what that response might be. And Trump would be there braying constantly how only he can resolve such conflicts.
Netanyahu is not adverse to creating a situation that would adversely affect the Biden administration and promote Trump's candidacy, and neither is Putin.

This incident follows another missile launch from Yemen on Thursday night, which also set off sirens in central Israel.
Earlier this month, a Houthi missile targeting central Israel was "partially intercepted," with fragments of its warhead exploding near Ben Gurion Airport.
Israel did not respond to that attack, leading to concerns about eroding deterrence. This contrasted with Israels previous response when the Air Force struck the port of Hodeidah in Yemen after a deadly drone attack on Tel Aviv in July that killed one person and injured ten others.
