Harris' new ad hits Trump's age in criticizing Vance

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is launching a new digital ad Tuesday slamming the Republican vice presidential nominee, Sen. JD Vance, as “extremist” and a “danger to our democracy.”

The spot argues Vance, R-Ohio, “could be a heartbeat away” from the presidency if Donald Trump wins in November, the first time the Democratic ticket has gone after the former president’s age in paid media since she became the Democratic nominee, according to a Harris official.

The 50-second ad, which will target voters in battleground states, concludes with video of Trump appearing to slur his words at an event and then a Fox News host saying, “The former president, he’s been off his game.” It is the first time the Harris campaign has used such clips in any of its ads, the official said.

Age was a dominant campaign issue when President Joe Biden, 81, was still a candidate. Trump is 78 years old.

Vance is a liability for the Trump campaign and voters should be reminded that Vance is unqualified for the job.

And as awful is he was, Vance's favorabability jumped from 40 to 49% after the debate, https://www.thedailybeast.com/first-flash-polls-shock-verdict-on-vance-walz-debate-clash-revealed?ref=home?ref=home That means he now has a higher favorability rating than Trump, who is at 46%. https://news.gallup.com/poll/650774/favorable-ratings-harris-trump-remain.aspx

Suggesting that by voting for Trump you'll get Vance... may actually get Trump more votes! So I don't think this is an effective ad for what we are trying to do.

We need to hammer on Trump. He's the one running for President.

Tim Walz went from 52% favorabability before the debate to 60% favorabability after the debate, giving him the highest favorabability of anyone on either ticket.

I am sure Republicans won't run any ads trying to scare voters away from voting for Harris by saying Tim Walz is "one heartbeat away" from the presidency.

Well, more specifically, the money that the Heritage Foundation gave Trump.

It's equally possible that Trump could endure another assassination attempt before Election Day -- or expire due to age-induced "natural causes" if he were to win -- and Vance, the Foundation, and Project 2025 could take over that way.
