National Democrats are launching an ad in Wisconsin and other swing states attacking Green Party candidate Jill Stein, calling her a spoiler candidate meant to hand the election to former President Donald Trump. The ad comes as recent polls show the race between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris tied in the state.

The ad from the Democratic National Committee, titled “Crucial,” will run on broadcast TV stations in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, three so-called “blue wall” states that are critical to Democrats’ chances of keeping the White House. It shows a picture of Stein that transforms into a picture of Trump while a narrator says “Stein was key to Trump’s 2016 wins in battleground states.”

“She’s not sorry she helped Trump win,” the ad states. “That’s why a vote for Stein is really a vote for Trump.” The ad closes with video of Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally where he said he likes Stein “because she takes 100 percent from them,” referring to Democrats. Ramsey Reid manages the Democratic National Committee’s independent and third party campaign operation. In an interview with WPR, he said they’re spending six figures across the three states.

“We know that the election is going to be really close, and we saw how Jill Stein’s spoiler campaign impacted the election in 2016,” Reid said. “And with the margins as close as we think that they’re going to be in the battleground states, we want to make sure that voters know that a vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Donald Trump, and we don’t want to take anything for granted.”

As far as I can tell, her main group of supporters are those who hate Harris/Democrats and want us to lose regardless of cost but still be able to pretend they have morals and claim to never have voted for trump.

Is a vote for trump. And that's her support.

Sure, there are a tiny sliver of voters that only see one tree in the forest, and that tree is (gotta grow the green party so it can eventually win).

But from what I can see most of her supporters, especially in the great lakes area, are people mad about the fact that Democrats, and specifically Harris, are not immediately cutting all US support (physical or rhetorical) for israel, and determined to try to make her lose. Regardless of what results come after.

The practical fact of her being a vp and not having any power to make such changes, nor the fact trump will be happy to actively support his ally netenyaho in completing genocide, nor the fact it is likely trumps back Chanel influences are likely a big reason there is no cease fire, none of that appears to matter.

People know voting for Jill Stein instead of Kamala is one less vote for Kamala. This isn't new information.

They're generally doing it because they see more daylight between Stein and Kamala than between Kamala and Rump. They see Dems and Reps as a uni-party with the only real hope for major progress being a third party.

The way to appeal to them is emphasizing Kamala's most progressive positions and the arc of progess because of Democrats. And, of course, adopting more progressive positions would help.

There is an entire generation (one of my youngest nieces is part of it) who were born right around when Obama was first elected PResident (a boomlet group born just ahead of and during "The Great Recession" ), who have come of age to vote this election as their first Presidential one.

Many of them are climate activists (if they are not already gun-violence activists) and they were too young to understand what was going on with Stein 8 years ago in 2016.

So each generation needs to be reminded.

who have taken to throwing cans of soup at Van Gough paintings in museums, might be the type who would do something like that as a "protest". If they are familiar with the European "Greens", they may think that Stein is part of an offshoot of them and that is as far from the truth that one can get.

I consider that some of these "single issue" people have not experienced enough life to foresee that some of their "short term actions", can start a horrible "long term cycle" that could make it harder to actually solve the problem. We saw it with the 2016 election.

It all comes down to whether one wants to finally accept "pragmatic (actually 'do-able') solutions" as they think that "pragmatism takes too long".
