Donald Trump said the bigger problem for the US than foreign influence or migrants is “the enemy from within” whom he characterized as “sick people, radical left lunatics”, a term he often applies to Democratic opponents.

The former president told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News‘ Sunday Morning Futures that they — US citizens — “should be easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military”.

My Dad was a depression kid. Lost his twin in a house fire and was shuttled from relative to relative until he could finally enlist in the Army Air Corp. He was a Medic. He came from a long line of military men in his family, including one family member who died at the Alamo. I was honored enough to see the plaque on one of the walls of the Alamo (although I DO know the real history of that fight).

He was proud of his service, and instilled that pride of country into at least me, his eldest daughter. He was popping buttons when I officially gave my oath (of course, he was there to witness it). He was also proud when, as a civilian, I was accepted into a DoD/Army GS position. Sense of Service to this country, what we stood for as a nation, and the need to give back more than we get, was deeply ingrained in me by this man.

He's been gone now for nearly two decades. I'm now about the same age he was when he died. I miss him sorely every day of my life... so much I want to share with him the absence is almost palpable (especially at this time of year). He was an old-school, Lincoln Republican. He'd have died seeing the traitor put into the office by the American people. I am so glad he's not here today to see this mess. But I know he's turning over in his grave!
