Trump wants US citizens who oppose him to be 'handled' by military
Source: The Inependent
Donald Trump said the bigger problem for the US than foreign influence or migrants is the enemy from within whom he characterized as sick people, radical left lunatics, a term he often applies to Democratic opponents.
The former president told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures that they US citizens should be easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military.

(22,850 posts)Most Republicans these days privately (and not-so privately) want Argentine dictatorship-style disappearances and politically-motivated property seizures.
And Trump - one of whose closest foreign friends (Macri) is an Argentine dictatorship sympathizer (to say nothing of Putin) - openly relishes the idea.
He forgets that said abuses were promptly followed by an outright economic collapse - from which, 43 years later, they still haven't fully recovered.

(3,647 posts)I don't recall the name of the forum but I read it in the lead up to Jan 06. They cretins on there loved suggesting "chopper rides" to members of our side. This was a reference to either Pinochet or the Argentinian dictator who had their secret police drop activists out of helicopters to scare any other resisters.

How and why "Freddie" Klein came to have Top Secret clearance under Trump, is something that should've been looked into further I think (a back-channel between Cheeto and Macri?).
Trump is widely suspected of election interference in Argentina, ahead of the 2019 elections (which his pal Macri lost anyway). That seemed right up Freddie's alley.

Is that what I'm hearing?

(4,325 posts)My Dad was a depression kid. Lost his twin in a house fire and was shuttled from relative to relative until he could finally enlist in the Army Air Corp. He was a Medic. He came from a long line of military men in his family, including one family member who died at the Alamo. I was honored enough to see the plaque on one of the walls of the Alamo (although I DO know the real history of that fight).
He was proud of his service, and instilled that pride of country into at least me, his eldest daughter. He was popping buttons when I officially gave my oath (of course, he was there to witness it). He was also proud when, as a civilian, I was accepted into a DoD/Army GS position. Sense of Service to this country, what we stood for as a nation, and the need to give back more than we get, was deeply ingrained in me by this man.
He's been gone now for nearly two decades. I'm now about the same age he was when he died. I miss him sorely every day of my life... so much I want to share with him the absence is almost palpable (especially at this time of year). He was an old-school, Lincoln Republican. He'd have died seeing the traitor put into the office by the American people. I am so glad he's not here today to see this mess. But I know he's turning over in his grave!

(18,604 posts)not sign me up. I accompanied my brother to his draft appointment. I wore my fathers USCG hat (WWII; three theatres; mine-sweeper, sub-chaser and destroyer escort) proudly as well as my uncles (101st Airborne Medic).
I am absolutely enraged at what the Orange Boy has stated about military service men and women, and hope that we kick his ass to the curb in three weeks.
Both parents lived through depression, in a time when people took care of each other. We still have some of that, but not enough.

Months later, in a Veterans Day message, the Republican not only referred to many Americans as vermin phrasing that echoed Hitler and Mussolini he concluded, The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave, than the threat from within......
That was new, but it wasnt the most unsettling comment on the subject. The Washington Post reported:
Former president Donald Trump said in an interview that aired Sunday that he is worried about the prospect of unspecified actions by what he dubbed radical left lunatics on Election Day, urging that the National Guard or U.S. military be deployed on American soil against those he labeled the enemy from within.
.....In the next breath, in an apparent reference to Election Day concerns, the Republican concluded, It should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard or if really necessary, by the military, because they cant let that happen.
Link to tweet
.....Trump, meanwhile, has gone from describing many Americans as evil to condemning them as vermin to equating them with the foreign enemies to labeling them the enemy from within who might even warrant some kind of military response.
Eight years later, basket of deplorables seems almost quaint.
