In campaign's final weeks, Trump airs anti-transgender ads during football games
Source: Los Angeles Times
WASHINGTON Anyone who watches football has probably seen one of the most arresting ads of the campaign season in recent weeks, showing images of Vice President Kamala Harris superimposed with transgender members of the Biden administration and a scene lifted from the television show Orange Is the New Black of inmates in prison jumpsuits.
Its hard to believe, but its true, the narrator says. Even the liberal media was shocked. Kamala supports taxpayer funded sex changes for prisoners and illegal aliens.
Kamala is for they/them, the advertisement concludes. President Trump is for you.
Former President Trumps campaign has called the economy the central issue of the election and polls show most voters agree. But a message receiving prominent play in the campaigns final weeks is aimed squarely at reigniting the culture wars, highlighting an issue that has little direct effect on most Americans lives.

(5,767 posts)They must have scoured her record as a prosecutor, and this was the best 'Willie Horton' ad they could come up with. Can't say I'm surprised. Lacking a positive message, and trailing in the polls, you knew they'd go as low as they think they need to go.

(3,213 posts)Totally put me off watching football for the season, I'll tell you that.
The political ads elsewhere then chased me over to PBS. Guess it's me and Bob Ross reruns until November 5.
At least I can stand watching the news on PBS.

(8,209 posts)I have been waiting for an effective refutation or response from the Harris campaign and haven't seen it yet. I'm hoping there is some factual misinformation or obvious missing context in the commercial. An ineffective counter is probably worse than no response.

(2,055 posts). . . that the Harris campaign feels that replying to these ads will call more attention to them.

(919 posts)...of the desperation of the Trump (and Ted Cruz, who's running these against Colin Allred) campaign. Without a doubt the Trump campaign is aiming these at bigots of all stripes, but they believe these will be particularly effective on black men. From my perch in GA/SC, it appears the Trump campaign has abandoned ads on any issue, including the economy and immigration in favor of this tripe.
This is what the they're hanging their hats on, which means their other arguments have been ineffective.
For those interested, factcheck.org has an extensive writeup on the veracity of the claims in the ad, which is, of course, an out-of-context distortion with a lie about undocumented immigrants (of course) thrown in. The bottom line on any care for federal inmates is this :

TRUMP!!!!!
The health care policy for federal inmates has been in place since 2016.
TRUMP SUPPORTED IT THEN, AND IS LYING ABOUT IT NOW.
Color me unsurprised at his pathology. But I'm sure he's working on his health care plan as we speak.
I heard he had a concept of a plan........
