Democratic groups launch ad painting GOP as extreme on porn censorship

Source: The Hill

10/23/24 9:14 AM ET

Two Democratic groups are rolling out a new ad featuring a fake Republican lawmaker who wants to ban porn nationwide, the latest installment of the group’s $2.5 million ad campaign accusing the GOP of interfering in people’s lives.

In the 30-second ad rolled out by Progress Action Fund and Defend the Vote, called “Republicans Rubbing You the Wrong Way,” a young man is shown watching porn, before an actor playing a Republican congressman takes away his phone.

“What the hell man! How’d you get in here?” the man asks the lawmaker. “I’m your Republican congressman. Now that we’re in charge, we’re banning porn nationwide,” the congressman says. “You can’t tell me what to do! Get out of my bedroom you creep!” the man replies, before the congressman says, “I won the last election, so it’s my decision. I’m just going to watch and make sure you don’t finish illegally.”

The ad, which was first shared with The Hill, is part of two Democratic groups’ larger $2.5 million ad campaign, which has aired several ads attacking Republicans over reproductive access. The ad campaign will stream on connected TVs, online and streaming services in all seven battleground states.

From further in the article -

Though the ad is hyperbolic in nature — no political party is seriously likely to ban porn

EXCEPT there is THIS - COMSTOCK ACT (that was thrown into a postal bill under reconciliation rules back in 1872).

The last revisions came in 1994. They haven't repealed the whole thing yet.

So, the republican elites are considering it as part of getting rid of birth control as well.

It says they're going to arrest producers and put them in jail and make porn illegal. Conservatives never did believe porn deserves 1st Amendment protection. Don't be surprised if this supreme court allows censorship at some point.

Also they're already enforcing age verification which essentially is a ban because people don't want to give over their information and its difficult for websites to comply.

It’s kind of like the war on drugs, make it illegal then it makes more money and there are no pesky gubmint regulations.

Going after free speech on LGBT speech, Climate Change, and now Reproductive right speech.

Not a big stretch to go after "evil" porn.

This is exactly what (In)Justice Clarence “Uncle Slappy” Thomas (Q-Corrupt Clown) said he wanted to use to ban mailing of mifepristone and misoprostol (the medical abortion drugs). This would effectively eliminate any avenue for women in “red” states, who aren’t able to afford to leave their state for an abortion.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to also go after medical contraceptives, too. I’m sure that (In)Justice Scammy Alito (Q-Corrupt) has no compunction about doing that, as he’s affiliated with the Opus Dei whack jobs.

What would make this even more egregious, is that mifepristone (also known as RU-486) is used for more than just abortions. It is used to treat Cushing’s Syndrome, symptomatic uterine fibroids, and endometriosis. A full description of mifepristone, uses and side effects is available here, from Drugs.com.

The GOPerverts claim to be for “less government,” but they somehow, seem to keep increasing government intrusiveness, unless you’re a billionaire donor or major polluter (in which case, they say “more pollution is a good thing). What a bunch of jagoff, hypocritical wankers.
