Ballots damaged in USPS mailbox fire in Phoenix

Source: NBC News

Oct. 24, 2024, 12:31 PM EDT

A blue U.S. Postal Service mailbox in Phoenix, Arizona, was set on fire at approximately 1:20 a.m. local time Thursday morning, damaging approximately 20 ballots and other pieces of mail, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The mailbox was a drive-up collection box for mail at the Post Office at 3905 North 7th Avenue, according to Rob McDade, a spokesman for the Phoenix Fire Department. The fire was extinguished and the area has since been reopened.

McDade said authorities with the fire and police departments are investigating the incident and that the Postal Inspector took possession of the damaged mail. The authorities have yet to identify a motive. Federal authorities have warned in the lead-up to Election Day that ballots could be intentionally damaged in transit.

So anyone who did a mail in ballot at that box within the past 2-3 day, contact your voting committee and find out if you need to just report to your voting area on Nov 5 or will they send a new ballot.

That was the intent. They want an element of doubt so if/when Dump loses they can point and blame it on an unfair election. They will try to tie things up in court because of this kind of bullshit.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A suspect has reportedly been taken into custody in connection with a fire in a United States Postal Service Collection Box in Phoenix overnight, which damaged over a dozen ballots inside.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego announced the arrest in post on X (formerly Twitter) late Thursday morning. Arizona’s Family has reached out to Phoenix police for more information about the suspect.

According to Phoenix Fire Capt. Rob McDade, someone started a fire inside a drive-up collection mailbox near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road around 1:20 a.m.

Fire crews arrived at the scene, forced the mailbox open and put out the flames. McDade says 20 electoral ballots were damaged in the fire, along with additional mail.

Really????? Can't figure out what would motivate a Magat to set ballots on fire like a good old school book burning party?

Come on, I bet if you thought for a long time you could think up a motive. Remember election day is coming?

I make sure I hand it to a human being IN the office.

As a scientist I understand all about chain of custody. If I drop off my ballot somewhere I don't have control over it once it leaves my hands. This is too important.

I also don't trust DeJoy won't fuck up the mail. And I am afraid there will be bombs set underneath ballot collection boxes as well.
