A blue U.S. Postal Service mailbox in Phoenix, Arizona, was set on fire at approximately 1:20 a.m. local time Thursday morning, damaging approximately 20 ballots and other pieces of mail, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
The mailbox was a drive-up collection box for mail at the Post Office at 3905 North 7th Avenue, according to Rob McDade, a spokesman for the Phoenix Fire Department. The fire was extinguished and the area has since been reopened.
McDade said authorities with the fire and police departments are investigating the incident and that the Postal Inspector took possession of the damaged mail. The authorities have yet to identify a motive. Federal authorities have warned in the lead-up to Election Day that ballots could be intentionally damaged in transit.

(153 posts)So anyone who did a mail in ballot at that box within the past 2-3 day, contact your voting committee and find out if you need to just report to your voting area on Nov 5 or will they send a new ballot.

Really????? Can't figure out what would motivate a Magat to set ballots on fire like a good old school book burning party?
Come on, I bet if you thought for a long time you could think up a motive. Remember election day is coming?

As a scientist I understand all about chain of custody. If I drop off my ballot somewhere I don't have control over it once it leaves my hands. This is too important.
I also don't trust DeJoy won't fuck up the mail. And I am afraid there will be bombs set underneath ballot collection boxes as well.
