An editorial writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer took a shot at another newspaper for its refusal to endorse a presidential candidate.
The Inquirer on Friday published its endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. That endorsement notably came hours after The Washington Post announced its decision not to endorse anyone. Its the first time the paper has chosen not to endorse a candidate in 36 years. In the non-endorsement piece, Washington Post publisher and CEO William Lewis said the paper is returning to our roots and will no longer endorse candidates moving forward.
The decision has been met with outrage among Post staffers, and at least one has resigned. Days before, the LA Times announced it wouldnt be endorsing a candidate either. It was later revealed that Patrick Soon-Shiong the owner of the LA Times refused to allow the editorial board to endorse Harris. As a result, multiple LA Times staffers have also quit.
The Inquirer was not subject to similar restrictions. The papers editorial board on Friday published its own endorsement of Harris, claiming there has never been a more important presidential election in our lifetime.

Unlike some newspaper Editorial Boards, we arent afraid to take a stand, and we dont have to get permission from rich schmucks before we write.

Kamala Harris for president | Endorsement
There has never been a more important presidential election in our lifetime. The road to the White House may well run through Pennsylvania and every vote matters.

(39,959 posts)It was important to me to keep the papers in a neat pile. We recycled papers in North Philly in the early 60s. Id put them in my wagon and my grandfather would walk me 4 blocks to the recycling place and Id get a couple cents for our contribution. My good ole days.

(4,372 posts)allowed these millionaires to buy up media in all kinds of forms. Up until then, they'd only been limited to one format. With Bush, at last they could own both over-the-air media AND newspapers... and digital, if they wanted. We kept screaming the end result would be two or three people owning everything media related in this country, and we'd never get "news" they didn't want us to see again. But it seemed like too few could see past the shouts of "hyperbole" to understand what we were saying. (sigh)

for removing my last grains of doubt (as granular as they were) that Kamala could win by a margin large enough to render WaPo and LAT as unable to be associated with DuhDon any longer.
