Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, compared former President Trumps Sunday rally at New Yorks Madison Square Garden in to a 1939 pro-Nazi event.
Donald Trumps got this big rally going at Madison Square Garden, Walz said at an event in Henderson, Nev. Theres a direct parallel to a big rally that happened in the mid-1930s at Madison Square Garden.
An American Nazi Party held a rally at Madison Square Garden in February 1939 that lured 20,000 supporters to the iconic New York City landmark. And dont think that he doesnt know for one second exactly what theyre doing there, Walz said.
Trump, alongside his running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), is holding an event at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. While Trump has his origins in the Empire State, Vice President Harris is leading him in New York by 17.8 percentage points, according to an average of polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.

Walz is spot on with the comparison.

"This is not subtle. Fascists are not subtle. They threaten you openly by telling you what they will do, and do to you, and they dare you to oppose them. Too often, that opposition comes only when it is too late to prevent their consolidation of power.
Trump is in the fight of his life, and he is intensely threatened by Vice President Kamala Harris, with her positive and precise platforms, the huge crowds dancing with joy in her presence, her expertise as a prosecutor, and her embodiment of the strength of America as a multiracial and multifaith democracy.
Having a rally at Madison Square Garden, in the Nazi tradition, is a sure way for Trump to drive media attention to himself at a time when he is low on energy, incoherent, and falling asleep at his own events and thus more desperate and dangerous than ever.
What he will say at this rally has little importance, in that we will have heard it all before. As a skilled propagandist, he knows that the repetition of talking points is key to them being accepted. The more people hear a lie, the more that lie becomes familiar, and then may be accepted as truth.
It is the staging and the theatrics that he most cares about: the form rather than the content. He knows that everyone watching and attending knows that he is re-enacting a Nazi show."

(35,744 posts)He'll get way fewer votes this time than 2020, and he LOST to Joe in 2020.
I can't see him winning any states that he lost in 2020. We can only hope we're getting through to the once-in-a-while voters that are registered independents. We have a lot of them in PA too, and I believe they are motivated to stick with us.
The great unknown factor is: how many Repukes are going to vote for Kamala because they DON'T want Chump back in the White House? I believe it's what the pollsters are missing, and it will shock the shit out of everyone.
The only problem is sexism, how many men just can't bring themselves to vote for a woman? It's an issue, but I don't think we'll lose over it. I believe just as many women voters will vote FOR Kamala because she IS a woman.
