'Bob's Burgers' actor sentenced to 1 year in prison for role in Capitol riot

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — An actor known for his roles in the television comedies “Bob’s Burgers” and “Arrested Development” was sentenced on Monday to one year in prison for his part in a mob’s attack on the U.S. Capitol nearly four years ago.

Jay Johnston, 56, of Los Angeles, joined other rioters in a “heave ho” push against police officers guarding a tunnel entrance to the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot. Johnston also cracked jokes and interacted with other rioters as he used a cellphone to record the violence around him, prosecutors said.

Johnston expressed regret that he “made it more difficult for the police to do their job” on Jan. 6. He said he never would have guessed that a riot would erupt that day.

“That was because of my own ignorance, I believe,” he told U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols. “If I had been more political, I could have seen that coming, perhaps.”

all my life living in Louisiana and Texas (always said I would never move to Texas, yet here I am

I've determined it's 3 things that make them act like such idiots ( like that jerk who bought Taylor Swift's guitar, only to trash it)

-- ignorance
-- money
-- being brought up that way

OR

-- all of the above!

I just don't get it
I drive for Lyft and these guys and their big trucks are the biggest jerks on the road. I can spot one coming a mile away at night cause they have those damn LED headlights on high beam

1 year in prison because you believed the
lies of con man, the loss of your career, and
a criminal record is gonna hurt.

How many people have lost their careers,
their law licenses, their money, have lifetime
of shame because of Trump?

They re not repentant. They are upset that they cannot be racists in public with impunity. That bothers them so much.

But they have to play the game to try and get a lesser sentence. I say screw their faux apologies and send them into real prison with real people who do not like racists bullshit. Also make sure that, while they are there, they cannot mingle with other racist insurrectionists. Don't let them plot in prison.

He voices Bob's nemesis Jimmy Pesto.

On edit: I told my wife and she said on last week's show Jimmy was standing outside staring in through Bob's front window and never said a thing. He's only been in 43 of 280 episodes so no big loss.

The presiding judge, USDJ Carl J. Nichols, is a Trump nominated jurist. He oversaw the 2022 trial in which Steve Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress.

According to UPI, Judge Nichols sentenced Jay Johnston to one year and one day in a federal facility. In addition, Johnston must complete 40 hours community service within a year of his release. He also must pay $2,000 in restitution to the architect of the US Capitol.

Either way, this idiot threw his life away with this federal conviction over Donald J. Trump, his fellow Screen Actors Guild (SAG) member.

Ummm... sure. Okay. Whatever.

Except that....

1.) It was advertised in advance for WEEKS that something would happen that day.

2.) You still harmed people. Claiming ignorance afterwards is no f*cking excuse, dipshit.

3.) "I could have seen it coming." only makes it worse, dumbass.

"Oh, your honor, yeah, I drove drunk. I never would have guessed that I would have killed someone by doing it. I guess I could have seen it coming, that something like this would happen, but really, I just needed to get home and didn't want to leave my car in that parking lot all night. A Vehicular manslaughter felony is too much! Just give me a DUI and be done with it."
