Baby powder potentially laced with asbestos now under recall in 35 states
The asbestos was found following routine sampling

A baby powder sold on Amazon and in 35 states is being recalled following concerns it has been contaminated with asbestos.

Dynacare Baby Powder was first recalled in 12 states last month but that number has now been expanded to 35 after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detected asbestos in finished products during routine sampling.

The product was sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin and through Amazon.

The agency is recalling the 14-ounce and 4-ounce sizes, while Dynacare is asking customers to stop using the product and return it for a full refund. There are no public reports of illnesses linked to its use yet, and Dynacare has also ceased distribution of the powder as an investigation remains ongoing to determine the cause of the contamination.

I am disgusted. "No public reports of illnesses." They are babies. Things like this take time to show their effects.

Blich blich blich.

Adults use so-called baby powder, too.

And that many cancers won't manifest immediately or even in a few weeks, months. Many cases of cancer are not evident until years after they appear in the body and grow clandestinely.

Children always get the short end of the stick in society the world over.

There's a very good book on that subject called:
Childism: Confronting Prejudice Against Children by Elisabeth Young-Bruehl.

As demonstrated in the Johnson & Johnson cases. When it's very, very hot I still miss that smell.

Grrr.

Anyone could say to her could stop her from using her powder.

I knew when she started complaining about not being able to lose her belly weight that it wasn't going to be good news. Her cancer was so advanced it wasn't long between diagnosis and death.

She was a teacher and left hundreds of her students devastated. She was an extra sweet person and I miss her to this day.

continue to die. Corn starch is the viable alternative, but there must still be a profit motive even KNOWING it causes cancer??
Very sorry for your loss. Sounds like people tried.

However, using any product that contains Asbestos should be avoided. According to the reports, this certainly would be one of those products.

Any immediate "illnesses" would not be expected over the short term.

Misleading title in my post, but stated in body. I was trying to connect “their” emphasis on anti-choice with lack of post-natal concern. Perhaps I edit, or not.

.... immediate negative symptoms like a rash.

The latest FDA warnings I'm aware of suggest that maybe all baby powders should be avoided.

Of course, the last baby in this household is now in his fifties.

Thanks for putting it on the agenda for folks with babies.

The problem is that the mineral talc, used in talcum powder, can be contaminated with asbestos.

Always read the ingredients.

Even if you have to bring a 10X magnifier.
I do, and I'm crazy nearsighted.
