Trump sues CBS for $10B over Harris's '60 Minutes' interview

Source: The Hill

Former President Trump is suing CBS News over a “60 Minutes” interview it broadcast with Vice President Harris earlier this month that he and his allies have claimed was edited to cast her in a positive light.

The lawsuit, which seeks $10 billion in damages and was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Texas alleges the network engaged in “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion.”

“To paper over Kamala’s ‘word salad’ weakness, CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news,” the lawsuit reads.

CBS News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

for damages done to us and our fellow Americans due to misleading of American voters since 2015.

Similarly, every American should be entitled to a universal minimum income paid from the assets of Mark Burnett and his associates as punitive damages for the fraud (known as "The Apprentice&quot perpetrated on the American public.

The legacy of his court went to shit that day, and it will never recover.

That doesn't absolve him of responsibility for anything that happened after, of course.

Agree on 2016. Jill Stein is still trying to throw shit in the gears.

Repeated litigation without cause is called vexatious litigation. Vexatious litigation is a legal proceeding that is brought with malice and without good cause to harass, embarrass, or cause legal expenses to the defendant. It can be a primary frivolous lawsuit or the repetitive filing of meritless motions.

Vexatious litigation is considered an abuse of the judicial process and can result in sanctions against the offender. Sanctions can include:
Payment of all attorney fees and other legal fees incurred by the defendant
Contempt of court charges
Fines
Disbarment of the lawyer or firm
Being forbidden from any further legal action
Being required to obtain prior permission from a senior judge before taking any legal action

5 days before the election.

He wanted to put Harris in a bad light. As the OP says: to paper over Kamala’s ‘word salad’ weakness and to cast her in a positive light instead.

She did real well with that CBS appearance. He wanted to tarnish that in the eyes of his MAGA followers and low knowledge voters- so he "trumped up" (no pun intended) this lawsuit to say that the network engaged in “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion.” CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news”.

As I stated above in the response title - in his mind he achieved what he wanted to - this close to the election.

After the election - I don't even think he'll even follow through with this lawsuit. I think he realizes that it is 'frivolous'. But at least he knows that by filing this lawsuit now - it will get talked about on the MSM news shows and printed in every paper in the country and passed around on social media.

I think he figures he'll get some votes out of this from low knowledge voters and people that read about the lawsuit and don't know or care who Harris is.

They probably never heard her speak so they don't know any better.

At the link

https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/trump-sues-cbs-news-60-minutes-interview/

The lawsuit does not claim Trump was defamed by the network, said Geoffrey R. Stone, a First Amendment scholar and law professor at the University of Chicago, who reviewed the complaint. Instead, the suit attempts a novel use of a Texas statute that is meant to prevent advertisers from misleading the public about a product being sold — the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Consumer Protection Act.

Stone called it a "misapplication" of the law.

"That statute is about sales — a salesperson can be held liable for stating that a product has certain positive effects when he knows it doesn't," Stone said. "But CBS is not engaged in advertising here."

Sounds like this will be thrown out as a frivolous lawsuit. This is just a desparate action of a guy with lousy that will be decimated if it goes to court against CBS Lawyers. All of the Ron age turd lawyers are second rate.

Baby is mad and still steaming over an interview that happened weeks ago.

That room he dwells in probably has a distinct ketchup smell from his throwing tantrums !
