2 more Russian disinformation videos targeting U.S. election are circulating online, sources say

U.S. officials believe another two fake videos circulating online and publicly identified by the FBI as an attempt to push false election security claims are likely part of a Russia-backed malign influence campaign ahead of Tuesday's presidential election, two sources familiar with the process told CBS News.

The news comes after the FBI said in a statement Saturday that the videos "are not authentic, are not from the FBI, and the content they depict is false." The agency said that one of the videos falsely claims "the FBI has apprehended three linked groups committing ballot fraud, and the second relates to first gentleman Doug Emhoff."

The FBI in its statement did not say who was behind the videos, and when reached by CBS News, declined to comment further. It added that the two videos — using Justice Department and FBI signage within them and images of Emhoff — were being circulated as part of "attempts to deceive the public with false content about FBI operations."

The FBI did not attribute the creation of the propaganda to any actor. Saturday's disclosure brings to four the number of fake videos produced and distributed by Russia to mislead the American electorate that have been publicly identified in recent days by the U.S. government.

2. Propaganda doesn't work well

If you know it's propaganda.

That's why Trump won in 2016. Russia and Trump used propaganda techniques that we were not aware of. We never saw them before on social media. But now we are aware. We never had a foreign power so obviously involved in propaganda in our elections.

It's like the New York Times saying anti democratic things. It only works if you think the NYT is a liberal publication. If a conservative said anti democratic things no one blinks an eye. But if a long standing liberal publication mouths the conservative nonsense, it makes you stop and listen.

But now we know corporate media are all sucking up to pedo Trump because they are all owned by the filthy-rich who want to keep their tax give aways and subsidies (like free PPP loans they never pay back.)

We also now know how much they lie. They use to be required by the corporate media to tell the truth. The media would embarrass them if they didn't tell the truth or didn't know the truth.

But if you are expecting the truth, when you hear all their lies and the corporate media doesn't make a peep. You wonder if you got it wrong.

So, question everything in the corporate media and what's coming out of the GOP. Don't trust social media to feed you honest information. Don't believe everything circulating on the internet.
