Republican Ted Cruz of Texas wins a third term to the US Senate

Source: Associated Press

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas won reelection Tuesday, defeating U.S. Rep. Colin Allred and Democrats’ latest try at ending decades of GOP dominance in the booming state that was thrust this election year to the center of battles over immigration and abortion.

Cruz, 53, secured a third term following another expensive reelection campaign, six years after only narrowly beating Beto O’Rourke. This time around, Cruz implored Republicans to take his race seriously. He tried recasting himself to Texas voters as a get-things-done legislator, far from his reputation as an unapologetic firebrand with national ambitions.

Walking out to the song “Eye of the Tiger,” Cruz addressed his supporters Tuesday night at his watch party in Houston.

“Tonight the people of Texas have spoken, and their message rings clear as a bell across our great state: Texas will remain Texas,” Cruz said to cheers of the crowd, many of whom held signs that read “Keep Texas Texas.”

I believed that Colin Allred was going to beat this weasel. It wasn't even close.
I hoped that we would have surprise wins, such as in Iowa and North Carolina. It wasn't even close.
I believed that Pennsylvania and Michigan would hold up as strongholds. They didn't.
I believed that the sensibilities of women would rescue us and prevail over the senselessness of evil men.
Only 54% of women have voted for Harris (thus far) although we were told the gap was higher.
Biden won 57% in 2020.

I can't help but feel that I am living in a spiritually and psychologically sick society.
Decency doesn't matter anymore. Truth doesn't matter anymore. Facts don't matter anymore.
Has the heart of America grown so cold that it has turned to stone?
Where are those "better angels" which Abraham Lincoln referred to during the civil war?
Are we blinded so much by animosity towards others, bigotry, hypocrisy, and a refusal to accept basic facts
that we can no longer overcome them by reason and the truth?
The guy fantasized about shooting Liz Cheney in the face!!!

2 Timothy 3:1-7
"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God — having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth."

As a Christian, I can only find one "silver lining" in all this: that God has a plan to use this horrible man for some unknown good purpose.
