Trump wins Pennsylvania, leaving him 3 electoral votes shy of clinching the White House

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump won Pennsylvania early Wednesday, putting him just three electoral votes shy of defeating Kamala Harris to win the White House.

A win in Alaska or any of the outstanding battleground states — Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona or Nevada — would send the Republican former president back to the Oval Office.

Pennsylvania, a part of the once-reliable Democratic stronghold known as the “blue wall” with Michigan and Wisconsin, was carried by Trump when he first won the White House in 2016 and then flipped back to Democrats in 2020. Trump also flipped Georgia, which had voted for Democrats four years ago, and retained the closely contested state of North Carolina.

Trump’s gains sharply curtailed Harris’ path to victory.

2. I don't recall anything in the Constitution that says a President cannot be imprisoned for a State crime they committed.

Hopefully that means Trump will at least have to be President while in a prison in New York.

5. I don't believe there is a explicit requirement immunity from state or local

prosecution or, if convicted, imprisonment.

But there have been rulings in the past that the President cannot be impeded from executing his or her constitutional duties. Cannot be sued for judgments, etc in civil trials while he or she is President.

Trump has been convicted of major crimes... and awaiting sentencing.

But I suspect that he will never set foot in jail again. He can likely simply order the Secret Service to kill any state authority that tries to "kidnap" him to put him in jail... and SCOTUS has ruled that he is immune from any legal consequence of issuing such an order. As his lawyer said in the brief to SCOTUS... Trump would have to be impeached and convicted first before facing any criminal charges for executing his duties deemed "official" ( whatever the fuck that means ).

7. Well at a minimum, it means that Chief Justice Roberts will have to walk his black-robed ass

into a New York State prison cell, in order to swear in the (possibly, currently incarcerated) president elect (who would then immediately order his own release in order to go abuse his new federal government job).

Knowing that the election is done, and also knowing that its not going to stick past Jan 20th, I really REALLY DO hope that Justice Merchan finds an excuse to remand his ass to prison for 6 weeks...who knows it might just break what's left of his mind, and wouldn't that be nice.

Besides, then it isn't just about Trump...its about Roberts, too, and nothing would be more fitting to my mind than the bullshit-ass 'balls and strikes' judge having to go bail out the presidential equivalent of the 1919 White Sox.
