Trump transition distances itself from Ukraine peace plan outlined by Republican strategist

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (Reuters) -Donald Trump's presidential transition effort said on Saturday that a Republican operative who outlined some potential contours of a U.S.-backed peace plan in Ukraine earlier in the day was not speaking on behalf of the president-elect.

Bryan Lanza, a long-time Republican strategist who was a contractor on Trump's 2024 campaign, said in an interview with the BBC that Trump's administration would be asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy for a "realistic vision for peace." He said the new administration's priority in Ukraine would be establishing peace and not restoring lost territory, including Crimea.

"And if President Zelenskiy comes to the table and says, well we can only have peace if we have Crimea, he shows to us that he's not serious. Crimea is gone," he said.

Responding to Lanza's comments, a spokesperson for the transition denied that Lanza spoke for Trump. Trump's transition effort is currently vetting personnel and drafting the policies that Trump could adopt during his second term. "Bryan Lanza was a contractor for the campaign," said the spokesperson, who declined to be named. "He does not work for President Trump and does not speak for him."

he wants ALL of Ukraine... but will allow a "state" called Ukraine with a puppet strongman in charge, if for no other reason than to have an extra vote in the UN. Another Belarus. With control of the Black Sea and the gas and oil that is there in Ukraine territorial waters.

It wasn't stated to be Trump's plan, but so "Trump-adjacent" as to be equal to Trump's plan.

It's a plan I really disagreed with, but getting upset about something I have absolutely no control over while approaching a freeway for the commute home is usually a bad time to get anything more than "annoyed." I let those who are doing 80 mph and in the #4 lane when they realize that they have 100 ft to get onto their exit ramp and figure that the 2' clearance before and aft their car as they cut through traffic--only to swerve sharply, brake, and swerve back to the exit when some other bonehead racing to make sure nobody gets in front of him closes the small gap he was going to get that Tesla/Ram/Challenger/2016 Kia into.

He doesn't drop back to reasonable, however. His follow up proposal will also be outrageous -- just not as outrageous as the initial proposal. Then he and his acolytes begin banging the drum that anyone who objects is being unreasonable and obstructive. And besides, he's got a mandate. We're going to get sick of that phrase, along with, "He took a bullet for us."

We'll find out want T***p/Musk really plan for Ukraine after the inauguration.

It’s pure Trump to play every spot until his gut or Pootie whispers in his ear which spot is a winner. Then, he doubles down.
