Democrat Dan Goldman Reacts to 'Travesty' of Trump Legal Cases Winding Up After Win:'We Will Not Take This Sitting Down'

Representative Daniel Goldman (D-NY) reacted to the DOJ winding down the criminal cases against President-elect Donald Trump by calling it a “travesty” for the justice system. Earlier this week, special counsel Jack Smith filed a motion to clear deadlines within Trump’s criminal case in D.C., indicating the department was preparing to drop it’s charges against the president-elect following his Tuesday victory.

Goldman joined MSNBC anchor Al Sharpton for an interview on Sunday where he said it was “truly shameful” that Trump would be “avoiding accountability” for his criminal charges. The New York lawmaker also dismissed claims that the Biden DOJ was weaponized against Trump.

SHARPTON: Congressman Goldman, you’re a former federal prosecutor. You served as counsel to House Democrats during Trump’s first impeachment. NBC’s reporting that the Department of Justice is now trying to figure out how to wind down two federal cases against him. The January 6th and classified document cases before he takes office. At the same time, Trump is trying to get both his federal and state cases wiped out, especially his felony sentencing here in New York, which which he wants dismissed. And the Georgia election case against him, which is tied up on appeal. What are your thoughts with all of this?

GOLDMAN: Well, I think it is truly shameful that Donald Trump is appears at least right now, to be avoiding accountability for the crimes that a grand jury charged him of.

The numbers don't add up. My SIL's Trump Humper family is even questioning them. And, Dan, you know that appeasing fascism never works either. That's what Garland did and see where it's gotten us.
The worst part of this scam we've been subjected to is the DP spending a year telling us that democracy is in danger, which I do believe is the case, then lose and say: "Oh well, gee. We'll do better next time. Send money". Political campaigns on both sides are money making operations that offer nothing in exchange for your cash.
If there is a mid-term in 2026 expect it to be for show, a facade, a Royal Scam, a means of solidifying the oligarch ownership of the country and tightening their iron grip on America's throat.

Then it all(the charges) comes off looking completely political from the get-go. They had said the entire time that the election was irrelevant to the charges and trials. Dropping them now is confirmation - at least to Republicans - that the charges were bogus and were only sought in an attempt to keep a "legitimate" Trump from re-election.

At minimum, Joe Biden has to tell the American people what Trump took to Mar-a-lago. He is President. He has 100% authority. It can be generalities; no need for any specific details. If he took a document that has identities of "foreign intelligence assets", then say so. If its documents about "a European allies nuclear capabilities", say so. If its just a letter from Kim Jong and some empty jackets, say so. Tell American what this man took. If he doesn't, it looks all political.

Unreal.

Three corrupt judges screwed over America(Alito, Thomas Cannon).

What I fear is Biden won’t plant political bombs to give Trump et al, the shits.

Trump did it with John Durham and so should Biden.

He won’t. Neither will his staff. They think taking the high road is the only path.
