'This is Life or Death': Former HHS Sec. Kathleen Sebelius Says Trump's RFK Jr. Nomination May 'End Up Killing People'

Source: MEDIAite

Nov 16th, 2024, 7:34 pm

Former Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius said on MSNBC Saturday that if Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s does take over as head of HHS, it could “end up killing people.”

Earlier this week, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Kennedy to lead HHS, sparking controversy amongst lawmakers and media pundits. For decades, Kennedy has held anti-vaccine beliefs, including about the Covid-19 vaccine.

During an interview on Saturday with MSNBC anchor Jonathan Capehart, Sebelius claimed that Kennedy’s anti-vaccine beliefs are “totally disqualifying” for him to lead the agency while adding that his nomination is “life or death.”

I think that we’re talking about magnitudes of danger beyond erroneously making legal decisions. This is life or death. The HHS affects people from birth to their grave and is intimately connected with every state in the country. So this could be very dangerous. I think it’s totally disqualifying for anyone who seeks to lead the major health agency in this country and one of the leaders in the world to just unequivocally say there is no safe and effective vaccine.

They gave him full control of Congress so that he would have no pushback there. Given the blatant partisanship of the Supreme Court, he may well have little or no pushback there. Whoever becomes Secretary of Defense will have one job—get rid of all military leaders loyal to the Constitution and democratic governance and replace them with people who will follow Trump’s every order without question, no matter how crazed or illegal.

The media is still treating Trump as a normal president and keeping their heads in the sand about what he obviously plans to do.

I am a lymphoma survivor; I was first diagnosed in 1990; I am in my third remission.

It returned in 2019.
I went through 4 different type of treatments over 2 years. All failed.
The 5th treatment was successful.

For me to reach, remission, a minimum of 3 things had to happen.

The ACA was approved in 2010 giving me lifetime limits protections.
The drug I used to achieved remission received fast-track approval by FDA in 2020.
My healthcare provider successfully appealed denial of same drug by my insurer.

Trump and his appointees put me at risk by at least 2 levels:
Affordable Care Act
Food and Drug Administration

RFK Jr has no business near the FDA.

The GQP seems to somehow benefit from useless American deaths from either non-vaxxing, insane gun laws, de-regulation, lack of medical insurance, or military misadventures.

For example, the Trump/Vance response to US school shootings: "Get over it" or "it's a fact of life." Another DU-er posted the incredible number of preventable COVID deaths under #45.

Now a non-Vaxxer may lead HHS.

This is not to knock any profession in the US whatsoever and I mean no offense to anyone. Many of my friends are progressive attorneys, so I ask this rhetorically:

Are the majority of lawyers who handle the estates of deceased people in probate court Republicans? Are the majority of funeral parlor owners in the US Republicans? Are the majority of health insurance company CEOs Republicans? Are the majority of firearms company CEOs Republicans?

Seems to me that a select sector of the US economy simply benefits from useless American deaths which will continue unabated.

Again, I mean no offense to any attorneys or undertakers on DU.

The Broederbond in Suid-Afrika realized to save the Boer people they had to relinquish power to Mr. Nelson Mandela. Dr. Bernard (D/BOSS) and President P. W. Botha negotiated the end of brutal apartheid and saved the Boers, Anglos, Xhosas, and Zulus from an extinctive civil war.

How are the Republicans in the USA saving white people from "passive genocide" by allowing 42,000 gun deaths a year or refusing vaccines?

This boggles the mind. White people are not invulnerable to bullets or disease like Superman.

Thank you again for the term which I shall explore.

I know this is largely preaching to the choir. Vaccination is one of the, if not the most effective public health measure known to the human race.
