Trump selects Jared Kushner's father, Charles Kushner, for ambassador to France

Source: CNN

Donald Trump has selected his son-in-law Jared Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner, to serve as the next US ambassador to France, the president-elect announced Saturday.

Trump described Charles Kushner as a highly successful business leader, philanthropist and dealmaker, with deep experience in the real estate industry.

-snip-

Kushner was pardoned by Trump in 2020 after serving a prison sentence following a conviction on federal charges.

On June 30, 2004, Kushner was fined $508,900 by the Federal Election Commission for contributing to Democratic political campaigns in the names of his partnerships when he lacked authorization to do so.[19] In 2005, following an investigation by the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, US Attorney Chris Christie negotiated a plea agreement with him, under which Kushner pleaded guilty to 18 counts of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering.[20][21][22] The witness tampering charge arose from Kushner's retaliation against William Schulder, his sister Esther's husband, who was cooperating with federal investigators against Kushner. Kushner hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, arranged to record a sexual encounter between the two, and had the tape sent to his sister.[21][20][23][24] Kushner was sentenced to two years in prison.[20] He served 14 months at Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery in Alabama[25][26] before being sent to a halfway house in Newark, New Jersey, to complete his sentence.[25][26][27] He was released from prison on August 25, 2006.[28]

As a convicted felon, Charles Kushner was also disbarred and prohibited from practicing law in New Jersey,[29] New York,[30] and Pennsylvania.[31]

In the article below, written weeks ago, I encouraged folks to look deeply at Trump’s pardons if they want to know the future. Charles Kushner was one of those pardons. Like most, it was orchestrated by Jared Kushner and his network.

Jared Kushner's dad, Charles Kushner, is still a convicted felon.

A conviction remains on a criminal record even after a presidential pardon.

It doesn't erase the fact that someone was convicted of a felony.

And he's now the nominee as Ambassador to France.

"Calling Kushner's crime "disgraceful and reprehensible," US District Judge Jose L. Linares sentenced Kushner to the top of the eligible range - 18 to 24 months - under the his plea agreement with the government.

Kushner's presidential pardon is the bottom link.

The ignoble Charles Kushner still faces US Senate confirmation before he steps into the shoes of America's first Ambassador to France.

Based on what I Googled:

In diplomacy, a persona non grata is a foreign diplomat who is asked by the host country to be recalled to their home country. If the person is not recalled as requested, the host state may refuse to recognize the person concerned as a member of the diplomatic mission (including the removal of diplomatic immunity). A host country may declare persona non grata status for any member of a diplomatic staff at any time without any explanation.

Diplomacy
Under Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, a receiving state may "at any time and without having to explain its decision" declare any member of a diplomatic staff persona non grata. A person so declared is considered unacceptable and is usually recalled to their home nation. If not recalled, the receiving state "may refuse to recognize the person concerned as a member of the mission". A person can be declared persona non grata before that person even enters the country.

but he purposely enacted and carried out a plan to ruin his sister's marriage. That's about on the level of if he woulod have screwed his own mother to get her pregnant and have her deliver the child all so he could take out a life insurance policy on the child with him as sole beneficiary and then pulling a hit.

Seems the standard behavior can be summed up as committing despicable acts for which the penalties can be many years. Then saying in a plea deal "Yes I admit I did these things and I agree to this really light sentence." Then after serving part of it and being released early he says "F**ck you I never should have had this happen so I want a pardon." Seems like anything you get this weasel to agree to is written in disappearing ink. Showing clear proof that the apple was likely loaded with worms and disease before it fell from the tree.
