McConnell cries foul after 2 Democratic judges cancel retirement after Trump victory

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) vented his displeasure Monday after two Democratic-appointed federal judges reversed their decisions to retire in what appear to be efforts to stop President-elect Trump from nominating their successors.
McConnell called the unusual decisions to forgo retirement following Trumps sweeping victory last month a partisan gambit that would undermine the integrity of federal courts.
They rolled the dice that a Democrat could replace them and now that he wont, theyre changing their plans to keep a Republican from doing it, McConnell said on the Senate floor.
Its a brazen admission. And the incoming administration would be wise to explore all available recusal options with these judges, because its clear now that they have a political finger on the scale, he said. This sort of partisan behavior undermines the integrity of the judiciary. It exposes bold Democratic blue where there should only be black robes, McConnell warned.

That's rich coming from this partisan ass who packed the courts at the same point 4 years ago when Biden won the election and Turtle was shoveling in the most extreme and unqualified bullshit "judges" (in quotes) that he could find INCLUDING a SCOTUS Justice confirmed in record time.

You can shove your fake concern about the integrity of anything to do with the government. Fuck off.

Hilarious!!! Thank you for the laugh, BumRushDaShow!
Someone should ask McConnell why Clarence Thomas (76 years old) and Sam Alito (74 years old) didn't retire during Biden's term as president! And follow-up with "Will you object to Thomas and Alito" retiring during Trump's second presidency?"
Oh, the irony.

(4,440 posts)had to wipe my screen before I could finish reading! (LOL) Integrity of the federal courts? Egads, give me a freaking break! We've seen now for years how much integrity the fed courts have. Even those judges who try to adhere to the rules and the rule of law are broken by those who are insistent on bringing the courts to their knees. There hasn't been integrity in the courts since we started charging, trying, and jailing pot users back in the 60's! Every Boomer knows this, and every generation since we came of age has their own reasons for having lost faith in any "justice" or "court integrity."

(3,314 posts)McConnell stalled Garland's nomination for 10 months to wait for a Republican administration to nominate and emplace a right wing Supreme Court justice. His rationale - too close to an election; let the people decide.
Then, Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett only 2 weeks before the 2020 election. The "too close to an election; let the people decide" principle mysteriously evaporated and McConnell fast-tracked Coney Barrett through in record time to beat out a potential Democratic president and Senate.
And, he's got the gall to to cite "partisan behavior [that] undermines the integrity of the judiciary". That the American public can't see this behavior and write-off Republicans as unserious and corrupt truly blows my mind.

And yet he cries foul when someone else plays by his own rules.
Even Moscow Mitch shouldnt be surprised this time when the finger is pointed right back at him.
