A federal judge rejected a criminal fraud plea deal reached between Boeing (BA) and the Justice Department, citing provisions in the agreement that included race as a condition in selecting a corporate monitor "inappropriate" and "against the public interest."

The decision is major setback for Boeing as it tries to put some legal troubles behind it while facing challenges on numerous fronts. ... Its stock fell roughly 1% Thursday.

The decision comes as diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) has picked up momentum as a political issue in 2024, with critics targeting what they describe as "woke" policies at big companies.

Some major corporations, including Walmart (WMT), have backed away from their DEI initiatives or policies following public and shareholder pressure to do so.

and that others in other departments teach. We asked the university's attorney to speak with us on this matter. I can't image teaching organizational behavior or human resource management courses without discussing DEI. I have always found it useful to cover it in class because there is, and has been, so much misinformation about it.

Trump's racist behavior, that includes his birtherism bs and his xenophobia, should not be used to demonize diversity in this country. Weaponizing the word woke and using it as a pejorative is deeply offensive and should not be perpetuated in creating an anti-black atmosphere. Trump's exploitation of America's fear of people of color should not be expanded. If a business is going to retreat and go along with Trump's fascist anti-black policies then they deserve an eventual boycott like Walmart got.
