Johnson rejects Biden request for $24 billion on new Ukraine aid

Source: The Hill

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday rejected a White House request to pass $24 billion in additional aid for Ukraine by the end of the year, saying any further assistance for Kyiv would be decided by President-elect Trump when he assumes office in January.

“I’m not planning to do that,” Johnson said in response to a question if he would add aid for Ukraine to a continuing resolution to fund the government.

Johnson, speaking during a House Republican Leaders news conference, said Trump’s election victory is changing the dynamic of Russia’s war on Ukraine and that any additional U.S. assistance for Kyiv should be decided under the next administration.

“As we predicted and as I said to all of you, weeks before the election, if Donald Trump is elected it will change the dynamic of the Russian war on Ukraine, and we’re seeing that happen,” he said.

There are millions of people in Ukraine. Putin will slaughter them.
He will not stop. If the US abandons them it will absolutely start WWIII. I worry though that with the US on Russia's side now will the US join in the war to attack Europe? What will the military do if TSF orders them to invade the UK or France to help Russia?

We've already fallen down the rabbit hole. They saw what they saw for four years and heard everything they heard over the last year and decided "we want more of that" something I thought would be impossible.
The American people just popped it into 5th gear, push down harder on the gas and decided to play chicken with a brick wall.
To claim it's impossible for it to get worse is to have not paid attention since TSF came down that escalator in 2015.

Absurd you say? At one point, I would be willing to bet, every person on DU and many others, would have said the American people would never elect a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and insurrectionist to be president. The idea is absurd.
They did though. He wants Ukraine to surrender to Russia. He wants to pull out of NATO. He has said, repeatedly, that if Russia attacks our allies in Europe that he won't help them.
While I will concede that the idea that he would order US troops to invade Europe seems unlikely, I would never say it's impossible or absurd. This election proved anything is possible. No matter how absurd.
