Clintons urge voters agitated by today's politics to remain involved in public service

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Voters dejected by the presidential election results need to find a way to give back and remain involved, Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday as they celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Clinton presidential library.

The former president urged audience members in a packed theater to remain engaged and find ways to communicate with those they disagree with despite a divisive political time. The two spoke about a month after former President Donald Trump’s win over Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.

“We’re just passing through, and we all need to just calm down and do something that builds people up instead of tears them down,” Bill Clinton said.

Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state who was defeated by Trump in the 2016 election, said she understands the next couple of years are going to be challenging for voters who don’t agree with the decisions being made. “In addition to staying involved and staying aware, it’s important to find something that makes you feel good about the day because if you’re in a constant state of agitation about our political situation, it is really going to shorten your life,” she said.

1. dejected doesnt really encompass where we are. Neither does agitated. This feels more existential than that.

I guess some people at the top in cushy situations just don't get it...........

maybe some people at the top aren't listening or hearing only what they want to hear.

and the rest of the party leadership recognizes that the Democratic Leadership Counsel was a mistake and severs that branch of the party it will begin the healing process. So long as the Democrats cater to the rich they will never be the progressive party America needs. It may be too late in any case.

and Kamala and Doug collectively boycott the inauguration of a man who will break his oath of office minutes after he takes it, then we can begin to organize a real fight for Democracy.

Way too much acceptance of Trump and his quarter of a billion dollar aid package from Musk. Too much happy talk and optimism for the future that certainly is not justified considering the current state of things.

They most certainly should boycott the inauguration! No shaking hands, no small talk with the man that openly despises democracy!

Democrats need new leaders to battle in this current fight. This aint the 90s. No 3rd way strategy is going to work.
