BRUSSELS (Reuters) -This year will be the world's warmest since records began, with extraordinarily high temperatures expected to persist into at least the first few months of 2025, European Union scientists said on Monday.
The data from the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) comes two weeks after U.N. climate talks yielded a $300 billion deal to tackle climate change, a package poorer countries blasted as insufficient to cover the soaring cost of climate-related disasters.
C3S said data from January to November had confirmed 2024 is now certain to be the hottest year on record, and the first in which average global temperatures exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial period.
The previous hottest year on record was 2023.

Okay, I'm not sure sure. In fact, instead of fixing it, I'm pretty certain he will make everything much, much worse. But will any of his loyal supporters notice?

(52,357 posts)from 1989 and I did the math. This particular episode was about global warming....
"recycling, car pooling, constant use of styrofoam, asking for a glass of water at a bar that actually costs 3 times the amount for cleaning, rinse and ice, etc." and I said out loud to myself, "Nothing has changed in 35 years". That is a sobering fact. I'm a realist and at 62 years old I KNOW it will not change in my own lifetime but most likely will not change for decades, and that is an optimistic evaluation. Humans kill and destroy for greed and profit. That has been documented for thousands of years throughout various regions, cultures, politics and religions. Males do this about 99% more than female leaders. Humans kill and destroy, especially males. This will never, ever change. I've realized that I am a misanthrope now.
Older but wiser is my motto.
