Judge warns Rudy Giuliani he could face 'imprisonment' after attacking election workers again

Source: The Independent

Rudy Giuliani could face hefty fines “as well as imprisonment” if he is held in contempt for repeatedly falsely accusing a pair of election workers of manipulating election results in 2020, a federal judge cautioned Donald Trump’s former attorney on Monday.

A mother-daughter pair of election workers last month accused the former New York City mayor of violating a court order that blocks him from repeating anything that resembles his defamatory remarks about them. The women asked the judge overseeing a defamation case in Washington, DC to consider holding him in contempt in their last-ditch effort to stop him from attacking them while they try to collect the nearly $150 million judgment against him.

Giuliani missed last week’s deadline to respond to their complaint, then pleaded with District Judge Beryl Howell for “more time.” He claimed he can’t find attorneys to represent them because they believe the judge is “unreasonable” and “biased” against Trump, and that an outcome is a “foregone conclusion,” and a “no-win proposition.”

On Monday, the judge agreed to offer him another chance — given the “potential scope and severity” of the “arsenal of sanctions” he could face, including “compensatory and coercive fines, as well as imprisonment.” He now has until January 2 to file a response. Attorneys for defamed election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss have until January 7 to reply.

Perfect example of the need for criminal justice reform (although I know this is a civil case).

And if Trump was inclined to help, Rudy would not have been going thru what has been happening.

He claims it is a losing case for a lawyer. Not a defense. MAny cases are loosers.
He should have complied with the court,s orders. Now he gets another month of freedom.
He needs jail time. Now.

He can't find a lawyer because he fucked up so biggly that there is no point in trying to help him. And he keeps fucking up, so why bother? Then there is the money thing. Like most other Americans, Rudy is finding out that lawyers cost and he can't pay.

Welcome to real life in America, Rudy. Shut up and deal with the fact that nobody can save you, and nobody wants to.

f**ck makes this judge think he will comply with the new deadline when he has a nearly zero history of complying with anything? Does anybody in their right mind think the average person gets many, many chances in a row and can just blow through all of them? White privilege on steroids. Is anybody so crazy as to think that someone from Black Lives Matter would be given this pass for blowing through court orders?
