Trump plans to scrap policy restricting ICE arrests at churches, schools, hospitals

The incoming Trump administration intends to rescind a long-standing policy that has prevented Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from arresting immigrants at or near so-called sensitive locations, such as houses of worship, schools and hospitals or events like funerals, weddings and public demonstrations without approval from supervisors, according to three sources familiar with the plan.

President-elect Donald Trump plans to rescind the policy as soon as the first day he is in office, the sources — who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the change publicly — said.

The move would be intended to boost ICE’s authority to arrest migrants across the country, and its speed in doing so, as part of Trump’s plan to carry out what he has said he wants to be the “largest deportation operation in American history.”

The policy preventing agents from making arrests in sensitive locations without approval started in 2011 with a memo sent by then-ICE director John Morton, and continued through the first Trump and Biden administrations. It was meant to allow undocumented immigrants to operate freely in certain public areas with the idea that doing so will ultimately benefit not just them but the larger community.

basically the scenario a family would face is that they send their children to school and they never come home. It is not an exaggeration to see that a state like Texas, Arizona or Florida will have "surprise" sweeps through schools in an area where the Humvees, black SUVs and paddy wagons come swooping into the school parking lot and the school is shut down and access barred while they have the armed personnel go room by room with a list of names and anybody with that name is going to be gone.

In racist, fascist America it won't matter to them that they have grabbed an innocent kid who just has the same name as someone else. It's about body count for people like this. They get to report "x" number of kids removed as proof to their clamoring racist throngs of supporters that they are "getting them". Imagine if every Anglo kid named Brad Smith were grabbed in an entire region just because you're looking for only one Brad Smith in particular. The Anglo fascists would scream bloody murder. But white privilege on steroids means doing that to brown children.

Let's also not forget that this crowd has stated their intention to use groups like the Proud Boys and others to take part in all of this. How long before someone is shot by one of these clowns who is then going to claim they self defense and that they were "in fear" for their life? These types are itching to use those guns.
