Gabbard to fire more than 100 intelligence officers over "explicit" chats

Tulsi Gabbard, director of National Intelligence, said Tuesday more than 100 intelligence officers will be fired for taking part in sexually explicit discussions in agency chat rooms.
The big picture: Gabbard said on Fox News she "put out a directive" on Tuesday that those who took part in these chats on the National Security Agency's (NSA) "Intelink" messaging platform will also have their security clearances revoked.
Driving the news: Gabbard earlier Tuesday confirmed a report by conservative activist Christopher Rufo, who writes for City Journal, that the DNI was sending a memo directing all intelligence agencies to identify the employees who participated in the chats that included discussion on transgender identity.
DNI spokesperson Alexa Henning said on X Tuesday that the memo was sent to "all intelligence agencies" over the chats that she described as "obscene, pornographic, and sexually explicit." Gabbard said on "Jesse Watters Primetime" there "are over 100 people from across the intelligence community that contributed to and participated in what is really just an egregious violation of trust." She added to Fox News' Jesse Watters: "They were brazen in using an NSA platform intended for professional use to conduct this kind of really, really horrific behavior."
What they're saying: The National Security Agency/Central Security Service said in a post to X Tuesday it was aware of posts that "appear to show inappropriate discussions" by intelligence personnel and investigations to "address this misuse of government systems" were ongoing.

I expect many if not most of these people ARE "conservatives" (notably going back to the days of Shrub & Darth, including FISA and whatnot). But again in their drug-addled fictional universe, "government" = "libruls". I sure as hell wouldn't want to mess with those in that community.

The guy who pulled Critical Race Theory out of his ass, followed by DEI. He’s a real shit! And why is he doing this?

Why do I believe it? Confirmed that there are what the Central Security Service (NSA's career internal 'police') described as 'explicit posts' via X

(495 posts)No proof or anything to back it up. Not even a theory.
Just a thought that someone looking for something bad on a DEI site might decide that any mention or image of gay love, trans anatomy, or negative sexual behaviour examples in a sexual harassment training module were "pornographic".
Obscenity is, after all, in the eye of the beholder.
On the other hand, people do sometimes do the dumbest, most inappropriate things and seem to be surprised when they are caught.
It could be either.
I am just disinclined to offer the current Regieme the automatic benefit of the doubt.

(646 posts)I worked with a company back when laptops going home was a fairly new thing to employees . We were told "dont use them to watch porn". Pretty plain. A month later we got another notice "We know some you are watching porn. The computers are connected to our systems. Stop it or you'll be fired"
ANOTHER month later 35 field techs were fired FOR WATCHING PORN
I mean, come ON

if anyone I knew sent me even an innocent email to my government account, I would forward it to my personal account and reply to them to never send any email to my government account.
This was SO part of my training that even now, some 20 years after I left the government, I continue this practice. My friends at work laugh at me for doing this. But I assure you that this practice keeps me conflict free at work. Sure it would be easier to only carry 1 laptop and 1 phone...

(150,461 posts)Civil servants are trained very well and read the riot act.
But "firing" on the spot for what is being described, is NOT one of the typical options for misuse of government property. There is a whole escalation process. The most "extreme" measures like this aren't normally taken unless the employee outright physically assaults (or even kills) someone.
If these people were contractors, then that is a whole other issue but that is not known from the info given.

(30,782 posts)but for discussing porn or trading porn websites with someone else, you are right... there is a process, including training, etc.

(150,461 posts)and there was an escalation procedure of "verbal warnings", "written warnings", maybe some additional "written warnings with coaching", and then started the administrative leave punishment (longer and longer terms).
I have seen people summarily dismissed like this and they were back maybe 6 months later because they appealed it (in some cases, signing an agreement to be moved to another supervisor or office or whatever).

Do not believe a word MAGA says. It's a coup attempt. No I'm not being hyperbolic nor am I a reactionary.
He did it on Jan 06, 2021, he told us he was going to take over our country, and now he's trying to do it. Successfully, I'm afraid to say.
It does not mean he's won, or it's over - things can change fast with catastrophes, natural disasters, enough people in the streets, but if we don't stop this soon, he'll have lackeys everywhere. Incompetent ones btw.
Every action taken right now is a coordinated plan taken from Project 2025 to take over the U.S., and turn us into the Russian system, where the Trumps are royalty and voting always favors Dear Leader, or Dipshit Donald.
