Trump demands Maine governor apologize -- or the state will face consequences
Source: Politico
President Donald Trump is demanding a “full throated apology” from Maine Gov. Janet Mills in his spat with the state over transgender athletes, implying his administration will continue to target the state unless he gets one.
The Democratic governor got into an argument with the president during a governors’ meeting at the White House in February, telling the president “we’ll see you in court” when he threatened to pull federal funding from the state if it failed to comply with his order to ban trans athletes from playing in women’s and girls sports.
His administration subsequently opened overlapping investigations into Maine, including probes launched by the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services and Agriculture.
The president in a Saturday morning Truth Social post demanded Mills deliver a “full throated apology” for her earlier comments and promise to never pose a “challenge” to the federal government again.

(5,675 posts)comply with the Trump Administrations rules. Also, as of not I cannot find any lawsuit filed by the state of Maine against the US about this issue despite the Governors vow to 'See you in court.'
Think. Again.
(22,330 posts)...you'll see that she said that she would see him in court as a response to some kind of threat from trump. Her statement alone, taken out of context, doesn't mean she intended to initiate a lawsuit immediately, but that she would if he gave her a reason to.

(5,675 posts)What I will say it the Governor got WAY ahead of her skis in saying to President Trump 'see you in court'. She may have had a knee jerk reaction to the loss on millions of dollars of federal funds but calmer heads at the college level and (I would hazard to guess the high school level soon) thought better of it.
None of this is to say that President Trump is necessarily 'right'. It is just another example of the real golden rule. He who has the gold makes the rules.
Think. Again.
(22,330 posts)She explained the result trump would face if he followed through with his threat.
Was that "above her place" (or something equally demeaning)?

(24,675 posts)That is definitely dick-tater mode. I hope Gov. Mills and her constituents take this as a personal challenge to ream his ass. What's he going to do if she doesn't kiss his ring?

(677 posts)the Democratic Governor to bend the knee and kiss the ring while swearing fealty. His ego needs constant reassurance. That's how empty he is and will remain.
Unfortunately for him, she, the governor, is not some powerful law firm or broadcast station or even a weak Republican senator that bows down.
No, she's just a Governor standing up for those that are under attack by their Nation's leader.
He'll never understand, the fact that he needs an apology shows just how weak he really is.

(8,200 posts)…could craft an “apology “ for the Governor in such a way as to call out Trump as a colossal narcissistic bag of withered foreskins. Make him a laughingstock buffoon in the public’s eyes! If there is ANYTHING Trump HATES - it’s that*
Sadly, I don’t think the DNC has anyone, or thinks like that. (Jesus. Call the writers at SNL.)
*. Remember the laughter that rained on Trump during Obama’s rebuttal at the White House Correspondents Dinner? Trump was SEETHING! You could actually see it!
That’s why Trump won’t go to one.
And THAT’S why Trump hates Obama. For that! (That, and that Obama is…you know….)
