March 24, 2025 Trump Administration, Trump cultists
“It is with great pleasure that I am announcing Alina Habba, Esq., who is currently serving as Counselor to the President, and has represented me for a long time, will be our interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, her Home State, effective immediately!
“Alina will lead with the same diligence and conviction that has defined her career, and she will fight tirelessly to secure a Legal System that is both “Fair and Just” for the wonderful people of New Jersey.
“Additionally, John Giordano, who has done a terrific job as the interim U.S. Attorney in New Jersey, will now be nominated as the new Ambassador to Namibia!
“Congratulations to Alina and John!” – Trump, posting this morning to Truth Social.

(11,048 posts)the people who convicted Menendez, that kid who was mean to him in 4th grade - pretty much the whole state of New Jersey for not voting for him. IMHO, this is another example of his putting outward appearances above competence or qualifications.
Does the position require confirmation by the Senate?

"Did you not hear me?" Kaplan asked Habba when she talked over one sustained objection.
Habba appeared to make a mistake on Wednesday when referring to documents that had not been put into evidence. Kaplan ordered a recess in proceedings so that she might "refresh" her memory on how to.
"No, we are not going to read out loud a document not yet in evidence," he said. "We are going to take a break here and you're going to refresh your memory about how you get a document into evidence."

... I’ve spent hours of my life in rooms with exceptionally smart people, and I’ve spent hours in rooms with stupid people. I’m here to tell you this, Alina: It is easy to fake being smart — in a room filled with stupid people. But it extraordinarily difficult, and perhaps impossible, to fake being smart in a room filled with smart people. Smart people know a fool when they hear one.
Anyone who says otherwise has probably never been in a room filled with smart people. Or perhaps they’ve been in a room filled with smart people and, like my Ninth Circuit advocates, not realized that they had embarrassed themself by flaunting their stupidity.
... “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.”
You should have heeded that advice, Alina ...
