President Trump's executive order attacking Paul Weiss and severely restricting that law firm's ability to represent its clients was widely seen by lawyers as a dangerous affront to the nation's legal system.
To rivals of Paul Weiss, it was an opportunity.

I work in big legal and I just got back from Legaltech. It is now called Legal Week at it is at the Hilton next to Central park. I have been going to this event for 20 years.
I knew this was going to happen. NEVER ever capitualte. to a tyrant. Paul Weiss deserve to go. I know people at Williams Connelly and all the firms are calling them and supporting them for defending Perkins Coie.

(15 posts)They are going to lose a whole bunch of talent as a result of this. And if I were a client, I'd be out of there as well and not because of Trump targeting them but because they caved to him. I would expect my firm to to defend and uphold the law, period. Paul Weiss did themselves NO favors by caving.

(456 posts)and I was calling them last week. All my friends in this vertical are disgusted by Paul Weiss. They don't even have to dust off their resume. Legal has no non compete and they take their clients with them. Remember they write the laws so they have no non compete.

I'm sure being targeted by a tyrant sucks, but that's the nature of freedom. Sometimes it's your turn to defend it. And for a lot of people, that involves much harder sacrifices than billings.
What a pathetic scumbag. His capitulation means he's not a victim, just a mark.
