Stephen King's Trump Supreme Court Comment Goes Viral
Stephen King has expressed concern after the Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump has "some immunity" from prosecution.
On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that former presidents have immunity for official acts conducted while in office, but not for unofficial acts. The ruling was related to the Department of Justice's election interference case, in which the 78-year-old is accused of attempting to overturn the 2020 general election. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has repeatedly said the case is part of a political witch hunt aimed at derailing his presidential bid.
In response to the news, King took to X, formerly Twitter, to blast the decision.

"In the name of 'originalism,' Trump's Supreme Court has taken a wrecking ball to the Constitution," the horror author said in a post that has received more than 1.2 million views. Newsweek has emailed Trump's campaign team for comment.

(24,732 posts)Huge sections of reality outright vanishing into the maws of uncaring "law-keepers". Wait, wasn't that activity regulated by the federal government? Not anymore! Wait, weren't we free to do this other thing without interference? Not anymore! Wait, isn't there an agency to handle my request? Guess what?
Entire chunks of constitutional reality, centuries of precedent, rewritten almost instantly to the ambient sound of "nom nom nom".

(36,611 posts)Beer Bong Weenie Waver must have secret decoder rings that let them read the hidden messages in the U.S. Constitution.
Either that, or they're just a Subversive Court trying to remake the U.S. to fit their dystopian, dysfunctional, hateful, autocratic, extremist vision.

(56 posts)That this would be applied fairly. This would only allow the justices to move the goalpost of any damn thing no matter how deplorable into the "official duty" folder for their pet Trump, "unofficial" and disallowed for Biden or other Dem. Not fooled.
Just like McTurtule disallowed Obama's SC pick but same rule didn't apply after.

(7,904 posts)Anyone with a 6th grade education can read the relevant phrases and there's nothing in the "original" about such powers, quite the opposite if anything.
They just made that shit up out of thin air.
They've also ignored all previous rulings, taken away women's hard earned reproductive rights, damn near eliminated the powers of regulatory agencies and criminalized poverty.
The only way to be rid of them is for them to either quit, which they won't, or they have to die.
