David Ignatius on people who have been in the situation room with Harris

Ain't no generals gonna 'have their way with her' as the jackass Jesse Watters from brand FOX insinuated. While she currently serves as Biden's VP and he makes the final decision in each situation, she understands the job and insists on accurate information. She's gonna be fine in the job.

To get a better sense of her potential strengths and weaknesses, I interviewed more than a half-dozen current or former officials who have observed her in the Situation Room or other sensitive national security meetings.

They all expressed versions of the same basic theme: Harris behaves like the prosecutor she was for much of her career. She’s skeptical, probing, sometimes querulous. She can be impatient and demanding. But she asks good questions. And if she’s convinced of the need, she’s not afraid to act. “She’s more hard-line than most people think,” said one retired four-star general who has briefed her many times.

One top member of her staff put it this way: “She’s always the same person, pushing for information, making sure people aren’t bulls----ing her.” Having watched her often in discussions about using military force, he concluded: “Her approach is to measure twice, cut once. But she’s not afraid to take the shot.”

I try to use up my 10 gift links each month. Most months, it would be nice to have 20 or 30 to give.

Just go to YouTube and watch some videos of her grilling SCOTUS nominees as a Senator.

After watching the one of her questioning Beer Boy Kavanaugh, I have absolutely no doubts about her ability to stand up to anybody who crosses her path!

9. Who called her "querulous" (habitually complaining, fretful, whining)?

Seems like a misogynistic comment to me (either that or misused word), when compared to the other characteristics described.

That was my first take on the misuse of the word, but nobody else picked up on it.

14. She's the kind of boss I prefer. Whenever I have worked for...

a demanding intelligent caring boss with very high standards, my work leveled the fuck up and I got better.

Country club bosses trying to be my friend did me no favors because I never learned how to improve.

Micromanagers made me too anxious to do my work with any confidence.

Negligent bosses gave me no guidance, no direction, no praise, and no criticism. They left me wondering what the hell I was doing and why.

I want a boss who will be a damn boss. Hold me to high standards. Challenge me. Support me. Inspire me.

I may have taken this on a bit of a tangent, but the whole "she's a mean boss" crap floating around has been pissing me off.

15. I agree with you, and extend the concept to parenting too

There are big differences between overly permissive parenting (aka letting anything go by because confusing parenting with being bestie), overly strict parenting (aka controlling, thwarting growth, bordering on abuse), and parenting to encourage curiosity, growth, innovation, and accepting responsibility (aka getting it right).

A good boss, like a good parent, guides to growth and productive development, gets the tools needed into the hands that need them, rewards innovative problem solving, and doesn't put up with continued poor behavior/work.

A parent or boss that is too lenient or puts up with poor work just doesn't care and it will always result in failure of positive growth.
