Last week marked another first in Justice Department history. President-elect Donald Trump announced he would nominate his personal criminal defense team to serve as America’s attorneys once he is again sworn in as president.

Trump, the only former president ever charged with or convicted of crimes, tapped his top defense lawyer, Todd Blanche, as deputy attorney general, the second-most powerful position in the Justice Department. Emil Bove is his pick for principal associate deputy attorney general. And D. John Sauer, who on Trump’s behalf argued the landmark presidential immunity case in front of the Supreme Court, will be nominated for solicitor general — the person who represents the government on high court cases.
