"Gaza Is Running Out of Life": Human Rights Watch Sounds Alarm on Israel's Collective Punishment

The death toll from Israel's bombardment of Gaza has topped 2,700, including more than 1,000 Palestinian children. As the humanitarian crisis worsens, we get an update from Omar Shakir, Israel and Palestine director at Human Rights Watch, who says conditions in Gaza are dire, as Israel has cut off access to electricity and safe water, and many disabled and ill residents are physically unable to obey the evacuation order. This comes as Israeli President Isaac Herzog said his government holds the entire population of Gaza, including civilians and children, responsible for Hamas's attack. "People in Gaza are saying their goodbyes to the world," says Shakir, who also discusses Israel's use of white phosphorus, an illegal weapon of war.

Hammas needs to stop using the people of Gaza as human shields.

Are students of school shootings deserving too because the shooter won’t just get help before mowing them down?

4. I don't think that Hamas hiding behind the children of Gaza is a "bummer".

Hamas hiding behind the children of Gaza is a war crime.

civilians knew about it and some of them took advantage by expanding the breakout, with the civilians subsequently taking revenge on civilian targets.

That was my take on it anyway.

Even if true and I think considering Gaza's decades old mass lockdown, open air prison status, that there is probably some truth to it. Having said that, the total number of terrorists that were in on the attack is minuscule compared to the population of the city. So I have no doubt the vast majority either had no idea or are too young to do anything about it.

Hasn't that been the idea all along? There's some potentially valuable waterfront real estate there!
