(19,730 posts)the cheapest, ugliest black-framed glasses that I could find.
I loved them. They were so ugly that they looked kind of cool. I think the frames cost around $10.
I wore them for quite awhile, but finally retired them because their massive weight was starting to give me headaches.
I'm cracking up over "Birth Control" glasses. We used to call those type of glasses something similar, but I can't post it here.

And they were free - I was a little disappointed when the issue glasses changed from the 50's style horn rims TBH

(13,532 posts)I served from 82 through 06 - so my last eye exam they gave me the option to choose a slightly less embarrassing pair

Edit - The Air Force still issued the black hornrims until the late 80s. I gues the Army moved to the brown ones in the late 70s
