I haven't but just out of curiosity, I think I'll try a sample.
I only listen to old music, most of the time.

(45,468 posts)Look on YouTube if you don't have any music streaming service.
If you dont like old singer-songwriter stuff, what kind of old music do you like? Maybe I can suggest something else.

(53,910 posts)I don't really know any other song of hers. Heard a few one or twice, nothing grabbed me.
But for that one song, I'm a fan.

(22,495 posts)I was substitute teaching in a class of 3rd graders and they earned free time. The girls asked me to play Taylor Swift songs for them and I was a mini DJ. They were singing along and so happy. But the Karma song struck home for me!
I find myself humming that sing when I see the convicted felon get stomped on by the Biden/Harris now Harris/Walz campaign.

(476 posts)best when familiar with the lyrics and while watching any accompanying video. It's not her music or her voice that amaze (IMO) -- it's the entire package that wows. I like many of the ones already mentioned, but I particularly like one from her latest album: "Who's Afraid of Little Ol' Me" that's she's added to the section of her tour she has wryly dubbed "Female Rage - the Musical"
here's a snippet of the lyrics:
So I leap from the gallows and I levitate down your street
Crash the party like a record scratch as I scream
"Who's afraid of little old me?"
I was tame, I was gentle 'til the circus life made me mean
"Don't you worry, folks, we took out all her teeth"
Who's afraid of little old me?
Well, you should be
This is a video from her current ERAS tour:

(12,590 posts)That one is quite sly. I think people think she's singing from the POV of a teenager with a crush. She isn't. The song is basically directed at the fans who clutched their pearls about her relationship with Matty Healy, assuming that she didn't know he was trouble. She knew, and the song is a middle finger directed at those who think they know what she wants better than she does.
He was chaos, he was revelry
Bedroom eyes like a remedy
...
I know he's crazy, but he's the one I want
...
I'll tell you something right now
I'd rather burn my whole life down
Than listen to one more second of all this bitchin' and moanin'
I'll tell you something 'bout my good name
It's mine alone to disgrace
I don't cater to all these vipers dressed in empath's clothing
...
You ain't gotta pray for me
Me and my wild boy, and all this wild joy
If all you want is gray for me
Then it's just white noise, and it's my choice

(12,590 posts)I'm 64, so not exactly her target demographic. I came to listen to her stuff by way of Ryan Adams' cover of 1989 (figures that it took a male to legitimize a woman's work). I started out as one of those people that said, "I admire her as a person/businessperson, but her music is too pop for me," but that was before I'd actually HEARD most of it. If you listen to her albums in their entirety, what you'll get is something entirely different from each one. Her early ones were very country. Then, with Red and 1989, she became quite pop. Reputation took a 180-degree turn into a harder style (full confession: it's my favorite). Folklore and Evermore are very folky. Her newest, The Tortured Poets Department, is what I'd call Adult Album Alternative, and it's her most mature work to date. The lyrics are outstanding, and anyone who says she only writes about her exes ... hasn't listened to the bulk of her music.
There's actually quite a lot of us Senior Swifties.

(6,174 posts)husband used to tease me until he listened to Midnights and told me he thought it was one of the best albums he's heard in the past 10 years. Now he has 4 of her albums 😂
Most people say that Folklore is her best album, but I love Evermore.

(12,590 posts)My husband, 74, cishet male, USMC veteran, most people would just assume he'd be listening to some crap about GAWD BLESS MAGA or some shit like that, has become a huge Swiftie. He tears up even faster than I do listening to All Too Well.
